Diffusion Processes During Drying Of Solids written by K N Shukla and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1990-09-17 with Science categories.

The monograph presents a detailed mathematical examination of the generalised laws of diffusion in capillary porous solids as applicable to particular geometric situations of interest in the technology of drying. The novelty of the monograph is to present the result in dimensionless form under general type of boundary conditions. Many important results are presented graphically. The integral transform technique is used throughout the work and a host of useful information of the technique is included in the appendix. Research scientists and practising engineers in the areas of applied mathematics, materials and energy will find it a very useful monograph.

This book provides recent advances in research on drying of particulate and porous materials. It is based on a selection of papers presented at the XI Polish Drying Symposium 2005. The contributions cover theoretical, as well as experimental and modeling research on heat and mass transfer processes during drying of porous material and fluidized beds. The book is a pioneering contribution to the science and technology of drying of particulate solids.

This book is interdisciplinary in character and combines the knowledge of me chanics and chemical engineering with the aim of presenting a more exhaustive analysis ofthe phenomena occurring in wet materials during drying. Traditionally, the subject of drying has been an almost exclusive domain of chemical engineers. The drying curricula have mostly included only the courses of heat and mass transfer or diffusion. The mechanical phenomena that accompany drying, as for example, warping or deformation of dried materials, or the drying induced stresses and fissures of the material, were ignored or considered in a rather obscure way. This book broadens the scope of drying theory, bringing into the curriculum the tools enabling the study of both heat and mass transport processes and the me chanical phenomena that occur in wet materials under drying. There is little available literature that brings together heat and mass transport processes and mechanical phenomena in a unified approach to drying processes.

International contributors give wide coverage of the latest developments in the theory and practice of the drying of solids. Drying is one of the most common and energy-intensive operations in industry, and the cost is determined by the desired level of product moisture and the unit operation of nonthermal dewatering--hence the commissioned article on a new dewatering technique. Articles are balanced between theory and applications and practicing engineers should find a wealth of useful information. Topics covered include drying theory and modelling, drying of granular solids, drying of sheets, drying of foodstuffs, drying of agricultural products, solar drying, and drying of slurries.

The purpose of this book, Transport Phenomena and Drying of Solids and Particulate Materials, is to provide a collection of recent contributions in the field of heat and mass transfer, transport phenomena, drying and wetting of solids and particulate materials. The main benefit of the book is that it discusses some of the most important topics related to the heat and mass transfer in solids and particulate materials. It includes a set of new developments in the field of basic and applied research work on the physical and chemical aspects of heat and mass transfer phenomena, drying and wetting processes, namely, innovations and trends in drying science and technology, drying mechanism and theory, equipment, advanced modelling, complex simulation and experimentation. At the same time, these topics will be going to the encounter of a variety of scientific and engineering disciplines. The book is divided in several chapters that intend to be a resume of the current state of knowledge for benefit of professional colleagues.

Drying of Polymeric and Solid Materials shows for the first time how the process of drying can be enhanced by combining mathematical and numerical models with experiments. The main advantages of this method are a significant saving of time and money. Numerical modelling can predict the kinetics of drying and the profiles of liquid concentration through the solid. This helps in the selection of optimal operational conditions. The simulation of the process is also crucial in the assessment of diffusity and the rate of evaporation.

Heat And Mass Transfer In Turbulent Moist Air Drying Processes written by Carl-Gustav Berg and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999 with Drying categories.

The drying of solids is one of the oldest and most common unit operations found in diverse processes. Nevertheless, it is still one of the sciences that needs basic research, partially because of the difficultics and deficiencies in mathematical process descriptions and partially because of the lack of detailed knowledge of the coupled momentum, heat and mass transfer phenomena. The main objective of this thesis was to perform an in-depth experimental study of the coupled momentum, heat and mass transfer phenomena and to deduce a governing equation for net mass transfer in moist air and turbulent flow (hat was based on the findings. Development of simple and reliable steady state models for turbulent moist air-drying can be considered to be quite well reviewed in literature. Nevertheless, the literature study in the vast field of mass transfer has convinced the author that there is theoretical inconsistency even in the most rigorous mass transfer studies. The missing circumstantial information in the classical drying models is not well described in relation to net mass transfer. Therefore, this thesis presents different physical models that are used in moist air to define the governing net mass-transfer equation for turbulent drying processes. The known and trusted models are combined with coupled momentum, heat and mass transfer equations creating a reliable governing mass transfer equation in turbulent moist air drying processes during net mass transfer, i.e. the advanced drying model (ADM). The advanced drying model is analysed and experimentally verified with the specially designed apparatus described in this thesis. The deduced mass transfer equation indicates that Stefan's diffusion equation should be avoided when calculating drying intensities in turbulent flow with large water vapour partial pressure differences.
