For years, Image Processing has been the foundational text for the study of digital image processing. The book is suited for students at the college senior and first-year graduate level with prior background in mathematical analysis, vectors, matrices, probability, statistics, linear systems, and computer programming. As in all earlier editions, the focus of this edition of the book is on fundamentals. The 4th Edition is based on an extensive survey of faculty, students, and independent readers in 5 institutions from 3 countries. Their feedback led to expanded or new coverage of topics such as deep learning and deep neural networks, including convolutional neural nets, the scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT), MERS, graph cuts, k-means clustering and superpiels, active contours (snakes and level sets), and each histogram matching. Major improvements were made in reorganising the material on image transforms into a more cohesive presentation, and in the discussion of spatial kernels and spatial filtering. Major revisions and additions were made to examples and homework exercises throughout the book.

This book is the consequence of a NATO ASI held at the Chateau de BONAS, from June 23 to July 4, 1980. It contains the tutorial lectures and some papers presented at the Institute. The book is divided in four sections: Issue.s-, of general interest. Some topics are broader than the proper techniques of image processing, such as complexity, clustering, topology, physiology; but they may be of interest ... Feature detect'ion and evaluation. The first level feature detections are examined: edges and textures. Reorganization and improvement of the results are obtained by relaxation and opti mization process. Cooperative process are examined. Scenes and shapes. concerns higher level problems, and representation of images such as map and line-drawings. Applications in remote sensing, scene analysis, of one or of a sequence of images. It is hoped that this book will serve to update a domain In fast evolution. This book contains papers from the International Conference on Extreme Learning Machine 2021, which was held in virtual on December 15–16, 2021. Extreme learning machines (ELM) aims to enable pervasive learning and pervasive intelligence. As advocated by ELM theories, it is exciting to see the convergence of machine learning and biological learning from the long-term point of view. ELM may be one of the fundamental `learning particles’ filling the gaps between machine learning and biological learning (of which activation functions are even unknown). ELM represents a suite of (machine and biological) learning techniques in which hidden neurons need not be tuned: inherited from their ancestors or randomly generated. ELM learning theories show that effective learning algorithms can be derived based on randomly generated hidden neurons (biological neurons, artificial neurons, wavelets, Fourier series, etc.) as long as they are nonlinear piecewise continuous, independent of training data and application environments. Increasingly, evidence from neuroscience suggests that similar principles apply in biological learning systems. ELM theories and algorithms argue that “random hidden neurons” capture an essential aspect of biological learning mechanisms as well as the intuitive sense that the efficiency of biological learning need not rely on computing power of neurons. ELM theories thus hint at possible reasons why the brain is more intelligent and effective than current computers. This conference provides a forum for academics, researchers, and engineers to share and exchange R&D experience on both theoretical studies and practical applications of the ELM technique and brain learning. This book covers theories, algorithms, and applications of ELM. It gives readers a glance of the most recent advances of ELM.

Cloud computing is an indispensable part of the modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems. Cloud computing services have proven to be of significant importance, and promote quickly deployable and scalable IT solutions with reduced infrastructure costs. However, utilization of cloud also raises concerns such as security, privacy, latency, and governance, that keep it from turning into the predominant option for critical frameworks. As such, there is an urgent need to identify these concerns and to address them. Cloud Security: Concepts, Applications and Perspectives is a comprehensive work with substantial technical details for introducing the state-of-the-art research and development on various approaches for security and privacy of cloud services; novel attacks on cloud services; cloud forensics; novel defenses for cloud service attacks; and cloud security analysis. It discusses the present techniques and methodologies, and provides a wide range of examples and illustrations to effectively show the concepts, applications, and perspectives of security in cloud computing. This highly informative book will prepare readers to exercise better protection by understanding the motivation of attackers and to deal with them to mitigate the situation. In addition, it covers future research directions in the domain. This book is suitable for professionals in the field, researchers, students who are want to carry out research in the field of computer and cloud security, faculty members across universities, and software developers engaged in software development in the field.

Agricultural automation is the emerging technologies which heavily rely on computer-integrated management and advanced control systems. The tedious farming tasks had been taken over by agricultural machines in last century, in new millennium, computer-aided systems, automation, and robotics has been applied to precisely manage agricultural production system. With agricultural automation technologies, sustainable agriculture is being developed based on efficient use of land, increased conservation of water, fertilizer and energy resources. The agricultural automation technologies refer to related areas in sensing & perception, reasoning & learning, data communication, and task planning & execution. Since the literature on this diverse subject is widely scattered, it is necessary to review current status and capture the future challenges through a comprehensive monograph. In this book we focus on agricultural automation and provide critical reviews of advanced control technologies, their merits and limitations, application areas and research opportunities for further development. This collection thus serves as an authoritative treatise that can help researchers, engineers, educators, and students in the field of sensing, control, and automation technologies for production agriculture.
