Today, political leaders and candidates for office must campaign in a multimedia world through traditional forums—newspapers, radio, and television—as well as new digital media, particularly social media. Employing a historical institutionalist approach, the author considers independence struggles as formative moments and the nationalist period as a critical juncture in Uganda’s historical experience.
