E eles são (imporia frisar de novo) a liberdade e a igualdade, tal como constam da Declaração de Direitos da Virgínia, da Declaração de 1789, e da maior parte das Constituições de Estado de Direito democrático. É porque todos os seres humanos são livres e iguais que devem ser titulares de direitos políticos e, assim, interferir conjuntamente, uns com os outros, na definição dos rumos do Estado e da sociedade em que têm de viver.

The field of comparative constitutional law has grown immensely over the past couple of decades. Once a minor and obscure adjunct to the field of domestic constitutional law, comparative constitutional law has now moved front and centre.
