Single Velocity Method In Measuring Discharge written by P. W. Strilaeff and has been published by Information Canada this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1973 with Stream measurements categories.

"In 1968 an analysis was made of discharge measurement records for a number of gauging stations located in Manitoba and Northwest Territories. The purpose of the analysis was to discover the relationship between discharge measurements made on the basis of single velocity observations in the cross section, and discharge measurements made using traditional techniques. The relationship appeared to be very promising and the results were documented in the report "Preliminary Investigation into Relationship between Discharge Computed Using Single Velocity in a Cross-Section and Discharge Measured Using Standard Techniques," dated September 19, 1968. At the International Hydrological Decade Symposium on Hydrometry at Koblenz, Germany in September 1970, Mr. P.W. Strilaeff covered this subject in his paper entitled "Measurement of Discharge under Ice Cover." This paper was subsequently published as Technical Bulletin No. 29 by Inland Waters Branch; Department of Energy, Mines and Resources; Ottawa, Canada. This summary report is based on a more intensive and exhaustive analysis of the relationship by W. Bilozor, and suggests procedures to be followed when applying the single-velocity method in discharge measurement work"--Summary, p. vii.

The second edition of Streamflow Measurement meets the demands of engineers and managers in the water industry on how to obtain information on the flow in the world's rivers in view of the decreasing availability of usable water. It deals with all aspects of establishing, operating and maintaining streamflow measurement stations to ensure they prov

‘Too little water or too much’? In either case streamflow measurement is crucial. Climate change could significant affect water resources and flood management. Streamflow measurement is necessary for efficient water management. This third edition deals with all the main current methods for measuring the flow in rivers and open channels, in accordance with ISO and CEN standards and to satisfy the current requirements of the International Organization for Standardization and the European Union’s Water Directive. A new chapter on the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) is included; the chapter on uncertainties has been redrafted in accordance with the recent International Standard on uncertainties in measurement (GUM); the chapters on the Stage-Fall-Discharge method and Hydrometric Data Processing have also been updated; and a new section on flood flows has been added.

The techniques and standards for making discharge mea- surements at streamflow gaging stations are described in this publication. The vertical axis rotating-element current meter, principally the Price current meter, has been traditionally used for most measurements of discharge; however, advancements in acoustic technology have led to important developments in the use of acoustic Doppler current profilers, acoustic Dop- pler velocimeters, and other emerging technologies for the measurement of discharge. These new instruments, based on acoustic Doppler theory, have the advantage of no moving parts, and in the case of the acoustic Doppler current profiler, quickly and easily provide three-dimensional stream-velocity profile data through much of the vertical water column. For much of the discussion of acoustic Doppler current profiler moving-boat methodology, the reader is referred to U.S. Geo- logical Survey Techniques and Methods 3–A22 (Mueller and Wagner, 2009).

The Measurement Of Air Flow written by E. Ower and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-05-09 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The Measurement of Air Flow: 5th Edition (in SI Units) deals primarily with the measurement (expressed in SI units) of the speed of air in motion relative to solid boundaries or surfaces. The methods described apply not only to air flow but also to the flow of other gases with little, if any, modification, except as regards the numerical values of the various physical properties occurring in the equations. Furthermore, much of the theory applies to the flow of both liquids and gases. Comprised of 13 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the general principles of the pressure-tube anemometer used in measuring pressure difference from which the speed of flow can be deduced. The reader is then introduced to the characteristics of pitot and static tubes in incompressible flow; pitot and static observations in compressible flow; and the flow of air in pipes of circular cross-section. Subsequent chapters focus on the measurement of incompressible flow in pipes by pitot and static traverse methods; methods of flow measurement based upon the rates of cooling of hot bodies; and the measurement of pulsating flow. This book is intended for students and engineers and for other practitioners concerned with the measurement of the speed of air flow.
