Children and Adolescent’s Experiences of Violence and Abuse at Home is a unique book that explores some of the main controversies and challenges within the field. The book is organised into three sections, the first covering work that has focused on the experiences of living in DV settings as a child or young person, the second offers overviews of the impact of child victimisation and the final section is about working with children in practice and service-based settings. It includes extensive reviews of the literature, empirical research and practice observations, all of which provide compelling evidence of a need to change how we construct victims and design services. It provides evidence for the need to work sensitively, inclusively, and responsively around issues of victim identification, support, and prevention. Moreover, the evidence urges us to include children’s and adult victim/survivor’s experiences and contributions in the creation of services. Concluding with a series of recommendations for both future research, and ways in which we can help use the research findings to inform practice, it is a must-read for researchers, practitioners and educators working with children and young people within the field of domestic violence and abuse. It will also be of interest and value to policy makers who are reviewing legislation and those involved in commissioning psychological services, and victim services that work with child and adolescent victims.

It is written in an accessible style with down-to-earth tips and anecdotes, sometimes irreverent, from real life. There is an emphasis on the reality of general practice. It also contains humorous or touching vignettes with accompanying linocut artwork from the Red Roses exhibition. The book's first section covers hospital placements. It is intended to show trainees how to get the most out of their training posts. Beginning with basic information on behaviour required in the hospital setting, there are chapters looking at cardiology, ophthalmology, rheumatology, etc. These chapters are split up into handy lists, covering the basics, tips on patients and PDP pointers. The second section covers GP rotations. It gives information on passing the various RCGP exams as well as realistic advice on other facets of general practice. The third section looks at finding a job and making the transition to an independent practitioner. Options for broadening a doctor's career are looked here, with chapters on event medicine, academia, teaching, etc. There is information on how stay out of trouble and how to use social media safely and without running foul of the GMC. The book offers the ultimate guide to the training process. It covers the entire training experience and the practicalities of what comes after.

Handbook Of Child Psychopathology written by Thomas H. Ollendick and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-11 with Psychology categories.

In our first edition of the Handbook in 1983, we noted that child psychopathology should no longer be viewed simply as a downward extension of adult psychopathology. Rather, we suggested that children must be viewed as children, not as miniature adults, and that a merger of clinical child psychology and developmental psychology must occur in order for this objective to be realized. Now, 6 years later, we are sufficiently encouraged to assert that this synthesis, at least on a conceptual level, is well under way. Yet much growth remains to be seen along practical lines. The real test of the synthesis of these two fields of study will be evidenced on the battlefield, that is, the front line of clinical practice. Just how integrated clinical child psychology and developmental psychology really are remains to be seen. Nonetheless, progress is well under way. Careful attention to developmental and other contextual issues guided us in our efforts to solicit contributors for this second edition. All the contributors are active researchers and clinicians in the area of child psychopathology, and all are keenly aware of the subtle nuances and special considera tions of clinical and developmental psychology as they relate to child behavior problems. In addition, all the contributors are empirically minded; as a result, the chapters are data-based and represent some ofthe most up-to-date knowledge currently available. However, as research-based knowledge is more abundant and conclusive in some topic areas than in others, the chapters vary in length and scope.

Grandfathers written by Ann Buchanan and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-09-24 with Social Science categories.

This is the first book to bring together international scholars from around the world and from a wide variety of disciplines, to discover what is known about grandfathers and analyse the impact of close involvement with their grandchildren. Within the context of increased divorce rates, single parent families and healthier, more active elders, grandfathers have come out of the shadows and re-invented themselves in a new caring, nurturing role. These original studies demonstrate that grandfather involvement is independently and positively associated with higher levels of child well-being in the UK and South Africa, as well as in Arab and Israeli teenagers, and pre-school children in England. The chapters conclude that societies could benefit from encouraging more grandfathers to become actively involved in their grandchildren’s lives and argues the case for grandparent visitation rights in those countries that currently do not have them.

This book illustrates the ease with which various features of LISREL 8 and PRELIS 2 can be implemented in addressing research questions that lend themselves to SEM. Its purpose is threefold: (a) to present a nonmathmatical introduction to basic concepts associated with SEM, (b) to demonstrate basic applications of SEM using both the DOS and Windows versions of LISREL 8, as well as both the LISREL and SIMPLIS lexicons, and (c) to highlight particular features of the LISREL 8 and PRELIS 2 progams that address important caveats related to SEM analyses. This book is intended neither as a text on the topic of SEM, nor as a comprehensive review of the many statistical funcitons available in the LISREL 8 and PRELIS 2 programs. Rather, the intent is to provide a practical guide to SEM using the LISREL approach. As such, the reader is "walked through" a diversity of SEM applications that include both factor analytic and full latent variable models, as well as a variety of data management procedures.
