What happens when God turns up? 'Has God become as familiar and forgettable as a fridge magnet? That's the danger Krish Kandiah faces up to in this wonderfully readable and very challenging book. Bible stories come to life as Krish tells them afresh, richly illustrated with personal experience and social relevance, and in each case the living God turns up - strange, dangerous, and, like Aslan, not safe but good.' CHRIS WRIGHT, LANGHAM PARTNERSHIP In an age of social and political uncertainty, Krish Kandiah turns to less familiar and more uncomfortable parts of the Bible to discover the true character of God - but be warned: he may be stranger than you think. Building on the challenges he explored in PARADOXOLOGY, Krish strips us of our comfortable assumptions and invites us to look afresh at God's character. When Abraham welcomes three men for dinner, he ends up pleading for the life of a city. When Jacob meets God by the river, they end up in a fight. And when two forlorn disciples meet a stranger on the road, their lives are turned upside down. GOD IS STRANGER challenges us to lay down our expectations of God and delight in the power that is proven by his very strangeness. 'Be warned: this book could seriously affect your view of yourself, of the world and of God - I highly recommend it to you!' PAULA GOODER, BIBLE SOCIETY 'An important and timely book from someone who lives out its message.' PETE GREIG, 24-7 PRAYER INTERNATIONAL

Why do we marvel at the human mind’s capacity for memory, the heart’s unyielding rhythm, and the immune system’s constant vigilance? Is it all the product of chance, or does it reveal a deeper intention behind our existence? This compelling work addresses these very questions, drawing on Scripture and scientific understanding to unveil how each part of the human body—whether the nervous system, circulatory network, or our remarkable genetic code—functions with precision and unity. Blending faith and reason, “Wonderfully Made: The Harmony of Human Design” shows that biblical principles and scientific inquiry need not conflict. Each chapter focuses on a different dimension of human life, from the silent guardianship of our immune defenses to the awe-inspiring capacity of our brains. As the author leads you through these discoveries, you will see how they reinforce an overarching truth: we are shaped with meaningful purpose, bearing evidence of a Creator who cares for us profoundly. If you seek renewed gratitude for your body’s wonders or desire a deeper connection between your faith and the marvels of life, this book will both inform and inspire. In these pages, find reasons to believe that beyond all our intricacy lies a divine plan, reminding us that we truly are “wonderfully made.”

"Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened." —Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965) To the misfortune of many, this is how they view the Sabbath truth. They recognize is as truth, but because it is not convenient to their lives, they do quicken their step to move in another direction. "Unfortunately, it has been buried beneath the murky waters of human tradition, but it still exists," as author Steve Wohlberg states. The Bible clears the fog so that the truth is unmistakable. Beginning in Genesis, through the Ten Commandments and Jesus' example, the brief pages of this pocketbook declares the veracity of the Sabbath. Daniel even prophesied approximately 600 years before Christ's death that mankind would "think to change times and laws" (Daniel 7:25). In Discovering the Lost Sabbath Truth, the murkiness also gives way to the facts of human tradition and the church history of how leaders attempted to change God's law to fit their own way of thinking. Finally, the author parallels Christ's Sabbath rest once He finished the creation of this world to His Sabbath rest when He concluded His earthly work of salvation. Even in death, He rested on the Sabbath day. Since the Garden of Eden, man has wanted things his way. From the cross, Jesus pleaded with us to choose Him and His day.

Several of the ways and cultures that the Bible privileges or denounces slip by unnoticed. When those--the privileged and the denounced--are not examined, they fade into and hide in the blind spots of the Bible. This collection of essays engages some of the subjects who face dispersion (physical displacement that sparks ideological bias) and othering (ideologies that manifest in social distancing and political displacement). These include, among others, the builders of Babel, Samaritans, Melchizedek, Jezebel, Judith, Gomer, Ruth, slaves, and mothers. In addition to considering the drive to privilege or denounce, the contributors also attend to subjects ignored because the Bible's blind spots are not examined. These include planet Earth, indigenous Australians, Palestinians, Dalits, minjungs, battered women, sexual-abuse victims, religious minorities, mothering men, gays, and foreigners. This collection encourages interchanges and exchanges between dispersion and othering, and between the Bible and context. It flows in the currents of postcolonial and gendered studies, and closes with a script that stages a biblical character at the intersection of the Bible's blind spots and modern readers' passions and commitments.
