The Heart Of Biblical Theology written by Mark W. Elliott and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-09 with Religion categories.

Providing a model of how to 'do' biblical theology, this book also explores important emerging trends over the last five years including: reception-history as a means to grasping the theology of the bible; theological interpretation as a new form of lectio divina (meditative reading); the place of Jewish interpretation in forming a biblical theology; and the ever-present problem of losing Old Testament theology in New Testament theology. The second half of the book discusses the theme of Providence, as found in both Testaments, with insights gained from the history of biblical interpretation and from major attempts at working out a theology of Providence. Elliott focuses on Providence as it has been perceived rather than the themes of God's goodness and powerfulness in themselves.

The God Who Risks written by John Sanders and has been published by InterVarsity Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-09-20 with Religion categories.

If God is all-knowing and all-powerful, can he in any way be vulnerable to his creation? Can God be in control of anything at all if he is not constantly in control of everything? John Sanders says yes to both of these questions. In The God Who Risks defends his answer with a careful and challenging argument. He first builds his case on an in-depth reading of the Old and New Testaments. Then Sanders probes philosophical, historical and systematic theology for further support. And he completes his defense with considerations drawn from practical theology. The God Who Risks is a profound and often inspiring presentation of "relational theism"--an understanding of providence in which "a personal God enters into genuine give-and-take relations with his creatures." With this book Sanders not only contributes to serious theological discussion but also enlightens pastors and laypersons who struggle with questions about suffering, evil and human free will.

Joseph written by Robert E. Longacre and has been published by Eisenbrauns this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003 with History categories.

In this fully revised, second edition of Joseph, A Story of Divine Providence, Robert Longacre approaches the Joseph story as a paradigm for an approach incorporating the interests of the Old Testament scholar and critic with the interests of the contemporary textlinguist. His study seeks to explore several questions: How does one approach an ancient text? What does one hope to gain from its study? How do we orient ourselves in regard to this story? Does our orientation provide a key to our understanding of the story or does it simply hinder our approaching the story in an unbiased and objective matter? The book is comprised of four parts, the first three exploring the connection Longacre seeks to establish between textlinguistics and biblical studies. The fourth part is a constituent display of the entire Joseph pericope. This new edition of Longacre's landmark work incorporates a more user-friendly format, particularly noticeable in "Part 4: Constituent Display of Joseph." The book also includes new textlinguistic insights and updated references.

Addressing a topic of perennial interest in Christian theology, this volume offers a constructive account of the doctrine of providence. Mark Elliott shows that, contrary to received opinion, the Bible has a lot to say about providence as a distinct doctrine within the wider scope of God's acts of salvation. This book by a leading scholar of Christian theology and exegesis is a capstone of years of research on the history and theology of the doctrine of providence.

Mysterious Ways written by David Kingdon and has been published by Banner of Truth this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Religion categories.

To know that God wisely governs all His creatures and all their actions is one thing, but to apply this truth in our own lives is quite a different matter, especially when our hopes are disappointed and providence seems to frown. With great insight and pastoral wisdom, David Kingdon helps us to apply lessons from the life of Joseph to our own lives. He shows that God's people are not lost in a meaningless maze, but are safe in the hands of a loving Father. However 'mysterious' His ways seem at present, He has purposed good for His people, and will 'make it plain' in His own time. Even when we feel most at a loss about God's dealings with us, He is teaching us lessons which could be learned in no other way. 'Kingdon combines the ability to understand the text of Scripture with the sensitive heart of a pastor well prepared to be our friend and guide in this area of spiritual experience' (from the Foreword by SINCLAIR B. FERGUSON).

Modern textual critics and translators offer readings contrary to the traditional scripture text in numerous passages, seemingly in accord with an underlying agenda at times. They don't seem to view the text as God's Word, but as a mere flawed work of men requiring their corrective touch. That was the self-proclaimed view of Drs. Wescott and Hort, two textual critics of recent history who were so influential in attacking the traditional New Testament text and substituting their version.” They were able to influence many gullible scholars to the extent that the traditional text has been virtually ignored for many decades in favor of texts based entirely, or mainly, on the invention of these two. The case with the Old Testament is complex due to a unique history of Hebrew-text tradition that necessitates much study to grasp all the implications of text language fully. Here we elaborate on the inerrancy and uniqueness of the Masoretic Text, referring specifically to the Bomberg Ben Chayyim text that is the basis of the KJB Old Testament and is part of what Bible-believers today refer to as the Received Text.
