You will also find a few tender thoughts that your child-to-be may say to you someday. There are nearly 80 affirmations in all to help you remain hopeful, confront your fears with grace, feel in control during the highs and lows, and increase your joy. Adoption Affirmations is unique in that it is also a flipbook of a growing tree to provide you visual inspiration. As your hope grows, so too does the realization of your own family tree. I wish Adoption Affirmations was around years ago when I went through the adoption process. The book is a wonderful resource. May it inspire you to adopt, especially since there are so many children of all ages out there who need you. Jean Forsythe, One of California’s First Single Women to Adopt a Child Adoption Affirmations is a beautiful and profoundly comforting book, which will be a treasured companion during the adoption journey. Semmelman and Biers have written an inspirational and indispensable guide which will help keep your heart open on your path to finding the child that was meant for you. Robin Berman, MD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA, and Author of Permission to Parent Adoption Affirmations is more than a book, it is a heartfelt tool to refer to often for every person wanting to adopt a child. It will encourage you to persevere with a heart of hope and compassion as you become an incredible blessing to children through adoption. Reggie Doss (NFL Legend) & Tamara Doss (Radio Show Host), Adoptive Parents Adoption Affirmations is a landmark book for anyone considering adoption. The book’s understanding between the mind, emotions, and self-talk is insightful and significant. The book is based on personal experiences and serves as a practical handbook for adoption. I highly recommend it. Dr. Marvin Marshall, Former Elementary, Middle, and High School Principal, and Author of Parenting Without Stress: How to Raise Responsible Kids While Keeping a Life of Your Own Adopting Parents everywhere will be encouraged by these morsels of adoption wisdom. Adoption Affirmations infuses HOPE into the oft-times challenging journey of adoption and helps make sense of the roller-coaster emotions adoptive parents often experience along the way. Outlaw Woman written by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz and has been published by University of Oklahoma Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-03-20 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

In 1968, Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz helped found the Women’s Liberation Movement, part of what has been called the second wave of feminism in the United States. Along with a small group of dedicated women in Boston, she produced the first women’s liberation journal, No More Fun and Games. Dunbar-Ortiz was also an antiwar and anti-racist activist and organizer throughout the 1960s and early 1970s and a fiery, tireless public speaker on issues of patriarchy, capitalism, imperialism, and racism. She worked in Cuba with the Venceremos Brigade and formed associations with other revolutionaries across the spectrum of radical politics, including the Civil Rights Movement, Students for a Democratic Society, the Revolutionary Union, the African National Congress, and the American Indian Movement. Unlike most of those involved in the New Left, Dunbar-Ortiz grew up poor, female, and part–Native American in rural Oklahoma, and she often found herself at odds not only with the ruling class but also with the Left and with the women’s movement. Dunbar-Ortiz’s odyssey from Oklahoma poverty to the urban New Left gives a working-class, feminist perspective on a time and a movement that forever changed American society. In a new afterword, the author reflects on her fast-paced life fifty years ago, in particular as a movement activist and in relationships with men.

The Earthquake Child written by Elayne Klasson and has been published by She Writes Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-06-20 with Fiction categories.

The Earthquake Child is the story of an adoption, told through the voices of an adoptee, his desperate young birth mother, and his loving but grieving adoptive mother. How can Joshua’s behavior be explained? This question is all-consuming for his adoptive family. Joshua was relinquished at birth, then adopted only days later. Is it his genetic inheritance of substance abuse and generational poverty that causes him to act out, run away and eventually become involved with drugs? Is it the losses he’s experienced in his adoptive family? Or is it the very fact of adoption itself—the trauma of being amputated from his gestational mother to be raised by a family unrelated to him by blood, culture, or biology? What makes our children who they are? These voices and questions will resonate with all parents, but particularly with those who are or have been part of the adoption triangle: adoptees, mothers who have relinquished a child, and parents who’ve added a child to their family through adoption.
