IT systems have a high impact on organizations and businesses today and are a key to globalization. Evolution of complexity calls for changes in the way these systems are built and managed. As a consequence, a paradigm shift towards Model-Driven Engineering and Policy-Based Management can be observed, both aiming at a better management of complexity. A lot of human effort is still necessary to develop and operate complex systems. In this thesis, an innovative approach to reduce that effort is presented. Domain-specific models are used to describe the IT system and its behavior at a high level of abstraction initially. They are refined into technical representations at lower levels and finally transformed into event condition action policies. These executable policies define which actions must or must not be performed to achieve the objectives of the system. The refinement of models and the generation of policy implementations are both fully automated. As high-level changes are automatically materialized in the respective policies, system behavior can be adapted at runtime simply by changing the high-level models. This allows to operate even complex systems without considering their technical details. Finally, the correctness of the refinement is proven with a relational algebra. The benefits of the apporach are demonstrated and evaluated with two real-world case studies, dealing with the management of mobile networks and the calculation of bonus payments.

This new text consists of parts of Bornstein and Lamb’s Developmental Science, 6th edition along with new introductory material that as a whole provides a cutting edge and comprehensive overview of cognitive development. Each of the world-renowned contributors masterfully introduces the history and systems, methodologies, and measurement and analytic techniques used to understand human cognitive development. The relevance of cognition is illustrated through engaging applications. Each chapter reflects the current state of the field in cognitive development and features an introduction, an overview of the field, a chapter summary, and numerous classical and contemporary references. As a whole, this highly anticipated text illuminates substantive phenomena in cognitive developmental science and its relevance to everyday life. Students and instructors will also appreciate the book’s online resources. For each chapter, the website features: chapter outlines; a student reading guide; a glossary of key terms and concepts; and suggested readings with hotlinks to journal articles. Only instructors are granted access to the test bank with multiple-choice, short-answer, and essay questions; PowerPoints with all of the text’s figures and tables; and suggestions for classroom discussion/assignments. The book opens with an introduction to cognitive development as well as an overview of developmental science in general—its history and theory, the cultural orientation to thinking about human development, and the manner in which empirical research is designed, conducted, and analyzed. Part 2 focuses on the field’s major substantive areas: neuroscience and genetics, physical and motor development, perception, and cognitive and language development. Intended for advanced undergraduate and/or beginning graduate courses on cognitive development taught in departments of psychology, human development and family studies, and education, researchers in these areas will appreciate this book’s cutting-edge coverage.

Enterprise modeling (EM) has gained substantial popularity both in the academic community and among practitioners. A variety of EM methods, approaches, and tools are developed and offered on the market. In practice they are used for various p- poses such as business strategy development, process restructuring, as well as business and IT architecture alignment and governance. PoEM 2008, the First IFIP WG 8. 1 Working Conference on The Practice of Ent- prise Modeling, took place in Stockholm, Sweden. It is the first conference aiming to establish a dedicated forum where the use of EM in practice is addressed by bringing together researchers, users, and practitioners. The goals of PoEM 2008 were to - velop a better understanding of the practice of EM, to contribute to improved EM practice, as well as to share knowledge and experiences. The theme of PoEM 2008 was EM in different application contexts, e. g. , software development, including agile development, as well as business development, gove- ance, and change.

Rigorous Software Engineering For Service Oriented Systems written by Martin Wirsing and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-09-15 with Computers categories.
Service-Oriented Computing is a paradigm for developing and providing software that can address many IT challenges, ranging from integrating legacy systems to building new, massively distributed, interoperable, evaluable systems and applications. The widespread use of SOC demonstrates the practical benefits of this approach. Furthermore it raises the standard for reliability, security, and performance for IT providers, system integrators, and software developers. This book documents the main results of Sensoria, an Integrated Project funded by the European Commission in the period 2005-2010. The book presents, as Sensoria's essence, a novel, coherent, and comprehensive approach to the design, formal analysis, automated deployment, and reengineering of service-oriented applications. Following a motivating introduction, the 32 chapters are organized in the following topical parts: modeling in service-oriented architectures; calculi for service-oriented computing; negotiation, planning, and reconfiguration; qualitative analysis techniques for SOC; quantitative analysis techniques for SOC; model-driven development and reverse engineering for service-oriented systems; and case studies and patterns.
