El libro que presentamos, una reedición actualizada y ampliada del que fue publicado en 2004, se estructura en tres grandes apartados. Después de la introducción de Fina Sanz, que conceptualiza el buentrato y el maltrato en todas sus dimensiones, en la primera parte se incluyen cuatro capítulos dirigidos a facilitar la comprensión del origen y finalidad de las múltiples violencias contra las mujeres, recuperando y visibilizando la trayectoria histórica y social de su desarrollo. Se expone cómo opera el sistema patriarcal, que a partir de la diferencia sexual, sustenta la inferioridad de las mujeres, fundamenta la desigualdad y crea jerarquías de los hombres sobre las mujeres, lo que tiene gravísimos efectos en sus vidas y su salud, ya que implica la estructuración de vínculos basados en la violencia. Asimismo, se identifica cómo la sexualidad dominante, androcéntrica, heterosexista y coitocentrista ha arrasado con la erótica femenina, transformando a las mujeres en objetos sexuales, de los que los varones pueden apropiarse para su exclusiva satisfacción. La sexualidad de las mujeres ha sido una gran desconocida, no solo para los hombres sino para las propias mujeres, que han de hacer un proceso autónomo de autoconocimiento, para apropiarse de su erótica y desarrollar su sexualidad, desde la libertad de decidir cómo y con quién quieren vivirla. La segunda parte del libro está centrada en el análisis de las consecuencias de la violencia machista sobre la salud de las mujeres, así como en la detección, prevención y acompañamiento profesional desde los servicios sociosanitarios. También se incluye un capítulo que analiza con profundidad el marco legal y sus aplicaciones en las prácticas cotidianas en la atención sociosanitaria a las mujeres que sufren diversas formas de violencia

From October 2019 until the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020, Chile was convulsed by protests and political upheaval, as what began as civil disobedience transformed into a vast resistance movement.
