This insightful book offers a compelling portrait of Dr. Manmohan Singh, one of India's most respected economists and former Prime Minister, highlighting his pivotal role in transforming India's economy. It traces his journey from an academic and economist to a policymaker who ushered in the 1991 economic reforms that liberalized India's closed economy. The book delves into his contributions as Finance Minister, where he dismantled the License Raj, encouraged foreign investment, and laid the foundation for rapid economic growth. It also reflects on his tenure as Prime Minister, focusing on inclusive development, fiscal prudence, and India's emergence as a global economic player. Through detailed analysis and well-documented narratives, the book underscores Dr. Singh's integrity, vision, and quiet yet firm leadership style. It is both a tribute and an analytical account of how his policies reshaped India's economic landscape. Rich with facts and reflections, this book is essential reading for those interested in India's modern economic history, leadership in governance, and the power of reform. It celebrates Dr. Singh not just as a statesman but as the architect of India's economic renaissance, whose legacy continues to influence policymakers and economists alike.

Dr. Kalam was born and brought up in a multi-religious, multi-ethnic community, and this type of milieu had a profound effect on his personality. He gave equal respect to all faiths and religions; and he did not pay only lip-service to different religions. During his life, he visited the saints and seers of all faiths, discussed with them and learnt from them. He learnt what divinity and spirituality actually meant, and brought out a blended form. For him, religion is a connecting thread. He was quite at ease when he quoted from the Gita or the Hadith, or for that matter, from the holy texts of other faiths. In this book, we have made a solemn endeavour to read his mind, how he thought at every turn of his life; and this will help the readers to understand the intricacies of his thinking and how he was guided for a mission in his life. To understand him well, we have also narrated a number of incidents, accidents and events of his life, that would contribute to holistic understanding about him. He took up the challenges and worked on them wholeheartedly; whenever he failed, he overcame his negativity and came out a stronger man than ever. This is the beauty of his character, and this makes him one of the most popular public figures of all times. May his soul rest in peace! —K. Senthil Kumar, IAS

My Take written by LK Advani and has been published by Prabhat Prakashan this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-01-19 with Political Science categories.

L.K. Advani’s blogs cut across generations: for his contemporaries, they have a recall value. For the young Indian, restless to do his bit in shaping the future of his country, Advani’s blogs provide a rare insight into history. They take him through the turmoil and toil of leaders like Sardar Patel and their distinctive contribution in shaping today’s India. Advani’s blogs have a dual purpose: they mirror an era gone by and yet link its relevance to an India, raring to take on the world. The blogs, therefore, successfully merge two eras: one to which Advani himself belongs with another which sees him as a mentor. That Advani has been a consequential politician is a given. As a protagonist in the political playfield spanning decades, he along with Atal Behari Vajpayee, not only formed the Bharatiya Janata Party but transformed it dramatically. If the BJP is nationally in the reckoning today, it is because of the Atal-Advani vision of bringing it centre-stage from the margins. It is through this journey that he redefined secularism. During his historic yatras including the Ramjanambhoomi and Somnath to Ayodhya, the country was compelled to redefine secularism and distinguish it from the pseudo secularism being handed down by adversaries. But that is only one part. The other and more significant is Advani’s contribution in setting and elevating standards in public life and hammering that they be followed. That he has led from the front is well known. The strength of Advani’s blogs, like his persona, is that they are direct, candid and forthright. There is no soft-pedaling issues or minimizing the blow as it were. He has stated facts as they are and made no attempt to either underplay or exaggerate any sequence. His writings are as clear as his mind. The blogs offer a wide range: history, politics, books and all else. To those who have a stake in India’s political future, Advani’s blogs are an effective guide; for others an interesting read.

The United States India And The Global Nuclear Order written by Tanvi Pate and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-06-13 with Political Science categories.

In the Post-Cold War era, US nuclear foreign policies towards India witnessed a major turnaround as a demand for ‘cap, reduce, eliminate’ under the Clinton administration was replaced by the implementation of the historic ‘civil nuclear deal’ in 2008 by Bush, a policy which continued under Obama’s administration. This book addresses the change in US nuclear foreign policy by focusing on three core categories of identity, inequality, and great power narratives. Building upon the theoretical paradigm of critical constructivism, the concept of the ‘state’ is problematised by focusing on identity-related questions arguing that the ‘state’ becomes a constructed entity standing as valid only within relations of identity and difference. Focusing on postcolonial principles, Pate argues that imperialism as an organising principle of identity/difference enables us to understand how difference was maintained in unequal terms through US nuclear foreign policy. This manifested in five great power narratives constructed around peace and justice; India-Pakistan deterrence; democracy; economic progress; and scientific development. Identities of ‘race’, ‘political economy’, and ‘gender’, in terms of ‘radical otherness’ and ‘otherness’ were recurrently utilised through these narratives to maintain a difference enabling the respective administrations to maintain ‘US’ identity as a progressive and developed western nation, intrinsically justifying the US role as an arbiter of the global nuclear order. A useful work for scholars researching identity construction and US foreign and security policies, US-India bilateral nuclear relations, South Asian nuclear politics, critical security, and postcolonial studies.
