"With universal appeal (everyone poops, after all), this witty, illustrated description of over two dozen dookies (each with a medical explanation written by a doctor) details what one can learn about health and well-being by studying what's in the bowl. A floater? It's probably due to a buildup of gas. Now think back on last night's dinner, a burrito perhaps? . . .All the greatest hits are here: The Log Jam, The Glass Shard, The Deja Poo, The Hanging Chad ... the list goes on. Sidebars, trivia, over 60 euphemisms for number 2, and unusual case histories all make this the ultimate bathroom reader. Who knew you could learn so much from your poo?"--Publisher website (October 2007)

Written during award-winning pediatrician Dr. Scott W. Cohen’s first year as a father, this book is the only one to combine two invaluable “on the job” perspectives—the doctor’s and the new parent’s. The result is a refreshingly engaging and informative guide that includes all you need to know at each age and stage of your child’s first year. Drawing on the latest medical recommendations and his experiences at home and in the office, Dr. Cohen covers everything from preparing for your baby’s arrival to introducing her to a new sibling, to those three basic functions that will come to dominate a new parent’s life. Eat, Sleep, Poop addresses questions, strategies, myths, and all aspects of your child’s development. In each instance, Dr. Cohen provides a thorough overview and a simple answer or explanation: a “common sense bottom line,” yet he doesn’t dictate. The emphasis is on doing what is medically sound and what works best for you and your baby. He also includes fact sheets, easy-to-follow diagnosis and treatment guides, and humorous daddy vs. doctor sidebars that reveal the learning curve during his fi rst year as a dad. Lively, practical, and reassuring, Eat, Sleep, Poop provides the knowledge you need to parent with confidence, to relax and enjoy baby’s fi rst year, and to raise your child with the best tool a parent can have: informed common sense.

The Rotation Of Sun And Stars written by Jean-Pierre Rozelot and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-11-27 with Science categories.

The Sun and stars rotate in di?erent ways and at di?erent velocity rates. The knowledge of how they rotate is important in understanding the formation and evolution of stars and their structure. The closest star to our Earth, the Sun, is a good laboratory to study in detail the rotation of a G star and allows to test new ideas and develop new techniques to study stellar rotation. More or less massive, more or lessevolved objects, however, can have averydi?erent rotation rate, structure and history. In recent years our understanding of the rotation of the Sun has greatly improved. The Sun has a well-known large-scale rotation, which can be m- sured thanks to visible features across the solar disk, such as sunspots, or via spectroscopy. In addition, several studies cast light on di?erential rotation in the convective zone and on meridional circulation in the radiative zone of the Sun. Even the rotation of the core of the Sun can now be studied thanks to various methods, such as dynamics of the gravitational moments and of course, helioseismology, through g-modes analysis. Moreover, the magnetic ?eld is strongly linked to the matter motions in the solar plasma. The solar magnetic ?eld can be measured only at the surface or in theupperlayers.Itistheproductoftheinternaldynamoorofthelocaldynamos if they exist – in any case magnetic ?eld and rotation cannot thus be separated.

Cancer doesn't just attack an individual; it attacks the individual and his or her loved ones. After her mother died of colorectal cancer, Shell Lewis wanted to cope with her mother's passing and to understand the range of emotions that both she and her siblings experienced and were yet to endure. Ms. Lewis decided to create a book composed by those who have been touched by the disease. And We Write: Surviving Cancer; Let the Healing Begin is a means of understanding the fear, grief, anger, acceptance, and joy that cancer causes in one's life. Through poetry, humor, and autobiography, cancer victims tell their respective stories and the impact that the disease has had on their lives. The compilation serves as a safe haven for cancer patients, illustrating that the extreme anger, relentless fear, uninhibited tears, and unyielding doubt are normal emotions that all cancer victims face and eventually overcome. In 2008, Shell Lewis earned her MA of English from Brooklyn College (CUNY), where she also served as an assistant ESL instructor and nonteaching adjunct, instructing college students on the skills needed to pass the CUNY Proficiency Exam (CPE) to earn their college degrees. While pursuing her own degree, Ms. Lewis interned at Byron Preiss Visual Publications and People Magazine. In addition to bylines in People, Ms. Lewis has bylines in the New York Press and The Big Apple Parent. During her college career, Ms. Lewis also served as editor for U.S. High, an online social network for high school-aged teens interested in government and politics. Ms. Lewis is currently employed as teen outreach manager for a New York City-based nonprofit organization that recruits and employs teens to tutor first graders and kindergarteners who are struggling readers.
