Essay from the year 2014 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: A, Jamshedpur Womens College (Affiliated to Kolhan University), language: English, comment: This research paper was first published in the Research Journal of English Language and Literature and was well accepted and recommended., abstract: The present paper discusses Charles Lamb's "Dream Children: A Reverie" in the light of Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalysis. Lamb's life even though it may appear to have glistened on the surface reeked of intense pain and suffering. Lamb led an active public life though his inward thoughts were a very private matter altogether. He was the best of friends and only those close to him knew of his dilemma. A detailed description of Lamb's personal life together with a concise history of psychoanalysis has been laid out so as to determine the psychology behind Lamb's "reverie." The unconscious is given a favourable position in the human mind, which is seen as a justifiable outlet of all the suppressed and the forgotten. Ultimately, all psychological vistas and propositions are shown to facilitate the emergence of the so-called "Dream Children."

Excerpt from Dream Children John Halifax never had a baby of her own, but scarce a mother does not murmur to her upheld baby boy, Philip, my king! And Charles Lamb never gathered child of his to his knee, to hearken to tales of their ancestors, but so real did he make his little Alice and John that one cannot think of Charles Lamb in the great Beyond, without those identical children that he wanted so much, so much, forever at his knee. And not Whittier, nor Stevenson, nor Riley, nor Hans Andersen, nor many another who has dreamed the sweetest dreams of childhood, ever knew child of his own in the flesh. But in their Dream Children they live on. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Reflecting on Montaigne, Virginia Woolf remarked, "The most common actions-a walk, a talk, solitude in one's own orchard-can be enhanced and lit up by the association of the mind." In Quotidiana, Patrick Madden illuminates these common actions and seemingly commonplace moments, making connections that revise and reconfigure the overlooked and underappreciated.

The Current Of Romantic Passion written by Jeffrey Cane Robinson and has been published by Univ of Wisconsin Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991 with Literary Criticism categories.

Deftly probing the ambivalence of Romantic writers on the subjects of "passion" and "beauty," Robinson shows how this ambivalence is also central to the experience of the modern critic in Western society. Is the reader's experience of beauty in art an escape from troubling reality? Or does desire for beauty spur social criticism and reform? Does the representation of erotic passion, as a sign of social critique, exist to be transcended for disinterested spirituality? Or is such passion the very site of the struggle for individual and class rights? Robinson explores the problematic place of passion and beauty in Romanticism's radical sentiments and reformist politics. Tracing the intertwining of desire and disturbance, of eros and subversion, his meditations encompass poems, novels, diaries; key terms (such as Rousseau's "sentiment of existence"); writers' characteristic forms of expression or habits of mind (Wordsworth's "or"-grammar); figures in literary works (Goethe's Werther, Byron's Lambro); problems of genre (the relationship of the Romantic poem and the Romantic essay, the problem of closure, the nature of a "scene"); and larger political questions (feminism in Romantic literature, erotic passion and representations of radicalism). Evoking the original meaning of "essay" as experiment, Robinson has essayed a topography of the Romantic landscape. "This book is daring and it is brilliant. I also think it is right."--James R. Kincaid, University of Southern California
