After a couple of years early retirement, the author returned to work in his late 50s, driving private hire cars as a chauffeur. Thus, the driver becomes the listener, and these are some of the stories of the customers in the back seat. Many of the customers are people who can no longer drive because of injury, a lack of confidence, infirmity or simply by being in a place where they do not wish to drive. Many of them also have a need to discuss important aspects of their lives with a listener.'As drivers, we tend to witness anger, hurt, intolerance and other emotions, apart from pure physical pain or the frustration of physical limitations. We also get to hear about football, grandchildren, fishing and politics. The accidental role of the driver as a listener is accentuated by the physical positioning within the vehicle. There is little eye contact between the parties, a physical separation within the same space exists yet an ability to establish a two-way conversation also presents. I had always thought that this was due to the insular nature of being in a vehicle and the non-judgmental nature of a stranger listening. Friends or family members as listeners may have expectations or prejudicial information and experience and may not be as impartial. I liked the idea that not being face to face and not having the normal eye contact feedback allows personal conversations to occur in a car more easily than if we were to meet a stranger at a coffee shop. This makes me think that counsellors may be able to do better work in a car than within an office.'

Road Warriors Life Lessons is an inspiration. It is based on personal knowledge of experiences learned in driving lessons taught the author by her father. Power dominates the driver of a vehicle as he takes the vehicle out onto an open road. The sense of command and control equally affects males and females. Maneuvering a vehicle skillfully is not a child s experience to be taken lightly. There are lessons gleaned from the narrator of this book of real-life ventures. Schoolinstructed driver s education courses combined with parental supervision mold preteen and teen lessons. This book demonstrates safety and guidance through actions bent toward humor and realism. Driving is a privilege offered during teen years. That privilege comes with responsibility to be viewed seriously by all drivers. The humor illustrated in the storyline is easily adaptable to the readers everyday life involving the world of driving a vehicle. It is much easier to grin or laugh at another person s errors or mishaps than own them. Better to experience through third-party humor than actually feel the effects of any of the book s scenarios. Driving defensively is an art. Safety first does not mean much until driving students think of that safety in terms of his life and the lives of others on the road. One Life Lesson -- Remember sheet metal can be replaced; body parts are not easily repaired. Vehicles roll off an assembly line, not your body. We encounter so many experiences up close and personal when learning to drive a vehicle. Let those experiences be due to safe, defensive driving techniques.

Driving While Blind written by Bob Hazard and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-06-05 with categories.

Driving While Blind was initially inspired over ten years ago when two young drivers lost their lives in an accident near my home. As we learned after the fact, they were both classmates of my daughter's. This book is meant to be a supplemental reading for new drivers (actually all drivers) because it is NOT a manual, rather, it is some real life scenarios with a fun twist that really focuses on the many distractions we face every time we get behind the wheel. My experience has taken me over a million accident free miles as a "road warrior" by trade in the automotive industry. Being in this industry, I have had several opportunities to be trained by professional SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) driving instructors. Additionally, I spent a year as a limousine driver in the Boston area; giving me some real life experience behind the wheel, much of which I share here in this book.My personal goal for writing this book is to contribute a better understanding of what we are responsible for when we pass that infamous road test. If I can make a difference in the way new drivers view this privilege, leading to saving just one single life, I will have been successful in my endeavor. A portion of the proceeds from this book will be going to an associated charity (or maybe several) which has not been determined just yet. Additionally, some of the proceeds will be set aside as a "scholarship" fund to several fortunate young drivers who will have the opportunity to attend a professional driving course, which is also yet to be determined.

With the exception of modern warfare, no other human activity has destroyed as many lives as driving a motor vehicle. Traffic crashes kill and injure thousands of Canadians every year at an incalculable financial and emotional cost to society—but rather than rush to stem this tide of human carnage, policy-makers seem to accept the ghastly toll as the price we pay for mobility. Driving Lessons takes a fresh look at the complexities of the road transportation system in depth, going far beyond the symptomatic, linear, reductionist approach. It challenges current traffic safety paradigms that simply blame the driver or target "villains and scapegoats" like impaired or high-risk drivers. It takes issue with road transportation system management that sometimes puts mobility ahead of the safety of road users. As one researcher notes, human beings will make mistakes, and accordingly, "the road transportation system must be designed so that people’s mistakes do not have disastrous consequences."
