Dengan membaca dinamika karakter intelijen pada tiga periode tersebut, diharapkan pembaca akan mendapatkan pandangan yang komprehensif mengenai dinamika intelijen dengan kekuasaan di era Orde Baru. Buku ini dimaksudkan sebagai suatu tinjauan ilmiah untuk memperkaya diskursus akademik intelijen di Indonesia, dan juga sebagai medium evaluasi agar kesalahan serupa tidak terulang lagi di masa depan. Setidaknya terdapat dua pembelajaran penting dari kajian ini, pertama, penggunaan intelijen untuk ambisi pelanggengan rezim tidak selamanya menghasilkan keluaran positif bagi kekuasaan itu sendiri.
