Durable strategies that have prolonged effects are prevalent in real-world situations. Revenue-generating investments, toxic waste disposal, long-lived goods, regulatory measures, coalition agreements, diffusion of knowledge, advertisement and investments to accumulate physical capital are concrete and common examples of durable strategies. This book provides an augmentation of dynamic game theory and advances a new game paradigm with durable strategies in decision-making schemes. It covers theories, solution techniques, and the applications of a general class of dynamic games with multiple durable strategies. Non-cooperative equilibria and cooperative solutions are derived, along with advanced topics including random termination, asynchronous game horizons, and stochastic analysis. The techniques presented here will enable readers to solve numerous practical dynamic interactive problems with durable strategies. This book not only expands the scope of applied dynamic game theory, but also provides a solid foundation for further theoretical and technical advancements. As such, it will appeal to scholars and students of quantitative economics, game theory, operations research, and computational mathematics. "Not too many new concepts have been introduced in dynamic games since their inception. The introduction of the concept of durable strategies changes this trend and yields important contributions to environmental and business applications." Dušan M Stipanović, Professor, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign "Before this book, the field simply did not realize that most of our strategies are durable and entail profound effects in the future. Putting them into the mathematical framework of dynamic games is a great innovative effort." Vladimir Turetsky, Professor, Ort Braude College “Durable-strategies Dynamic Games is truly a world-leading addition to the field of dynamic games. It is a much needed publication to tackle increasingly crucial problems under the reality of durable strategies.” Vladimir Mazalov, Director of Mathematical Research, Russian Academy of Sciences & President of the International Society of Dynamic Games

A General Mathematical Theory Of The Dynamic Global Political Economy written by David W K Yeung and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-09-24 with Mathematics categories.

William Jevons (1866 and 1871) established a ground-breaking milestone with 'A General Mathematical Theory of Political Economy' for economic analysis. Jevons' work was praised as the start of the mathematical method in the discipline of economics, which is inherently a subject involved with mathematics and quantities. This book focuses on the most fast-evolving and encompassing area in political economy — the dynamic global political economy. Under the high level of globalization currently, intertemporal and cross-boundary interactive elements are present in political-economic encounters. Indeed, almost all studies in the political economy may fall into the study of dynamic global political economy. Since the world has changed significantly, new mathematics developed by the authors of this book is used to formulate a general mathematical theory for the dynamic global political economy nowadays. A distinctive feature of the current book is that it combines advanced mathematics, game-theoretic concepts, and economics to develop a general mathematical theory supporting the study of the dynamic global political economy. The book covers mathematical theory for different areas of the dynamic global political economy. In addition, it explicates the application of the mathematical theory in real-world scenarios, including (i) environmental degradation under an uncoordinated interaction scenario, (ii) global climate accords with collaboration and cooperation, (iii) trade network involving the Belt-Road Initiative (BRI) and Build Back Better World (B3W) Initiative, and (iv) random termination of international joint ventures.

Environmental And Resource Policy For Consumer Durables written by Marco Runkel and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-09-25 with Business & Economics categories.

A recent line of research in environmental and resource economics deals with the analysis of the so-called product-related environmental policy, i.e. the regulation of certain product characteristics which are mainly determined by producers and which influence the impact of consumption goods on the environment. In this line of literature, only little attention has been paid to the role of product durability. The present study aims at filling this gap. It investigates the relationship between (built-in) product durability, production emissions, solid consumption waste and recycling. The main task is to identify inefficiencies in the durability choice of producers and to assess regulatory policies which aim at correcting for such market failure.

This book delves deeply into the multifaceted challenges of geoheritage management today, including the ever-evolving geological landscape, human impact, and the pressing need for sustainable solutions. At its core, this book explores how sustainable practices can safeguard our geological treasures in the face of an ever-changing world. One of the book's primary takeaways revolves around the imperative of data-driven decision-making in geoheritage conservation. With the integration of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, readers are exposed to the transformative power of data analytics, remote sensing, and geological mapping. By harnessing these tools, geoheritage managers and conservationists can analyze geological phenomena, monitor landform changes, and make informed decisions to protect and sustainably manage these irreplaceable natural wonders. Climate change, another critical theme of the book, is scrutinized from the perspective of its impact on geoheritage. Geological formations and landscapes are subject to climate-related alterations, ranging from erosion to shifts in flora and fauna. The book elucidates the innovative ways in which sustainable strategies can combat these effects, advocating for resilient geoheritage management practices that account for climatic variations. Furthermore, this book underscores the pivotal role of technology in preserving our geological heritage. From state-of-the-art monitoring devices to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications, readers are exposed to the tools and techniques that transforms geoheritage management. Real-world examples illustrate how these technologies are already being deployed, as well as their potential for further advancement to enhance sustainability.

Dynamic games arise between players (individuals, firms, countries, animals, etc.) when the strategic interactions among them recur over time and decisions made during one period affect both current and future payoffs. Dynamic games provide conceptually rich paradigms and tools to deal with these situations. This volume provides a uniform approach to game theory and illustrates it with present-day applications to economics and management, including environmental, with the emphasis on dynamic games. At the end of each chapter a case study called game engineering (GE) is provided, to help readers understand how problems of high social priority, such as environmental negotiations, exploitation of common resources, can be modeled as games and how solutions can be engineered.
