Understanding and managing damage and cracking in concrete is essential to ensuring the integrity and durability of civil engineering structures. Both theoretical and practical, this book presents a comprehensive approach to these problems by proposing models and numerical modeling strategies that are treated in a manner that is both simplified and efficient. It proposes a wide variety of applications that are derived from research programs and engineering cases. This book also addresses many situations, such as monotonic or cyclic behavior, seismic responses, a description of fast dynamic situations and effects due to the maturation of concrete at an early age in massive structures. Numerous detailed exercises are provided to help students to understand modeling and calculation techniques. Damage and Cracking of Concrete Structures is indeed intended for students, but also for engineers and researchers in the field of mechanics of materials and structures and, more generally, in civil engineering.

Seismic Performance Of Corroded Reinforced Concrete Structures Retrofitted With Frp written by Dejian Shen and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-05 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This monograph is written based on the author's research on seismic assessment and retrofitting of corrosion-damaged reinforced concrete structures during the recent two decades. It points out that reinforcement corrosion is one of the main reasons that contribute to the deterioration of the seismic performances and durability of reinforced concrete structures. It illustrates that the mechanism of reinforcement corrosion should be investigated to propose a method for evaluating the seismic performance of corroded components and structures. It calls for a comprehensive investigation on the bond performance between corroded reinforcing bars and concrete, as well as the degradation law of seismic performance of corroded beams, columns, beam column joints, and shear walls from the perspectives of materials, components, and structures. With the promotion and application of composite materials, fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) has been proposed as an ideal material for retrofitting reinforced concrete structures. By emphasizing the mechanism of reinforcement corrosion and the integrated evaluation of materials, components, and structures, this monograph offers an idea of using FRP to retrofit the seismic performance of corroded reinforced concrete structures. It is designed as a reference work for professionals or practitioners and a textbook for undergraduates or postgraduates. This book provides valuable knowledge and useful methods that can be considered in the field of seismic assessment and retrofitting of corrosion-damaged reinforced concrete structures with other FRPs.

The Theory Of Critical Distances written by David Taylor and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-07-07 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Critical distance methods are extremely useful for predicting fracture and fatigue in engineering components. They also represent an important development in the theory of fracture mechanics. Despite being in use for over fifty years in some fields, there has never been a book about these methods – until now. So why now? Because the increasing use of computer-aided stress analysis (by FEA and other techniques) has made these methods extremely easy to use in practical situations. This is turn has prompted researchers to re-examine the underlying theory with renewed interest. The Theory of Critical Distances begins with a general introduction to the phenomena of mechanical failure in materials: a basic understanding of solid mechanics and materials engineering is assumed, though appropriate introductory references are provided where necessary. After a simple explanation of how to use critical distance methods, and a more detailed exposition of the methods including their history and classification, the book continues by showing examples of how critical distance approaches can be applied to predict fracture and fatigue in different classes of materials. Subsequent chapters include some more complex theoretical areas, such as multiaxial loading and contact problems, and a range of practical examples using case studies of real engineering components taken from the author's own consultancy work. The Theory of Critical Distances will be of interest to a range of readers, from academic researchers concerned with the theoretical basis of the subject, to industrial engineers who wish to incorporate the method into modern computer-aided design and analysis. - Comprehensive collection of published data, plus new data from the author's own laboratories - A simple 'how-to-do-it' exposition of the method, plus examples and case studies - Detailed theoretical treatment - Covers all classes of materials: metals, polymers, ceramics and composites - Includes fracture, fatigue, fretting, size effects and multiaxial loading

Structural Behaviour And Innovation Of Recycled Aggregate Concrete written by Jianzhuang Xiao and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-05-29 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book presents the work of the RILEM Technical Committee 273-RAC on Structural Behaviour and Innovation of Recycled Aggregate Concrete. It provides the guidelines on the changes in the properties of recycled aggregates and how the different countries manage the use of recycled aggregates in construction work. As such, it helps researchers understand some new technologies to improve the qualities of RAC and the enhancement of RAC. Various mixing approaches adopted by the mixing approach, mixture proportioning for RAC using compressible packing model, particle packing method of mix proportioning for RAC, and a rational mix design method for RAC are proposed. Further evaluation of the stress-strain relationship and bond behaviour of RAC is explored in these guidelines. The current book focuses on "Structural Performance with RAC" and “Codes and Guidelines”. Feel free to contact me with any questions. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
