L’insonnia elevata a forma di conoscenza, la noia celebrata quale rivelazione dell’insignificanza dell’essere, il fallimento pensato come riuscito progetto di vita, l’idea di suicidio innalzata a inestirpabile conquista di libertà, l’insuccesso concepito come principio di distinzione: sono queste alcune delle ossessioni destinate a segnare il tormentato e contraddittorio percorso intellettuale di Cioran. Leggere le sue opere è come votarsi deliberatamente a un progressivo avvelenamento. Lo spirito di decomposizione, i pensieri alimentati da una ferale lucidità, il fascino di abbandonarsi alla morte spirituale assumendo anche piccole dosi giornaliere di invettive e scetticismo, sono malìe così forti da non lasciare scampo a chiunque prenda in mano un suo libro. Anche se appare nelle vesti di un disilluso psicopompo pronto a traghettare verso l’isola dei morti, Cioran manifesta, nonostante le affermazioni in senso contrario, un disperato attaccamento alla vita e il desiderio di un ritorno “all’anno zero” dell’umanità come riconquista di una felicità perduta. Solo, però, a condizione di prendere coscienza dell’inanità dell’esistere, saremo in grado di sopportare il nostro essere al mondo senza rabbioso disgusto, così da custodirlo con disincanto.
