an airplane, a train, and a café on a rainy afternoon and a warm saturday morning. a tree house and a lighthouse. magicians and disappearing acts, smoke and clouds and fog. movement is distracting; it twirls and spirals and comes and goes. it jumps around and never stays in the same place. it blossoms with joy and slices with a knife. these are the stories of people and their movement. they are ordinary, but they traverse timelines and dimensions with ease. and, just like movement, as soon as you lose track of them, you will miss something.

The book you are holding in your hands is a theatricalisation of one of the best-known myths of Ancient Greek culture. Taken from the work "The Metamorphoses" by the Roman author Ovid, this myth is a tale of passion, unrequited love, rejection, pride and revenge and it is believed that this story was aimed at the Greek adolescents of the time with a moralizing objective. Even today, despite the time that has passed since Ovid wrote this story, lessons can still be learned from it. This myth is also a good example of how the Greeks used mythological stories to explain nature and its phenomena. In this case, the myth offers the explanation of the origin of the acoustic phenomenon called echo and the origin of a plant with a beautiful flower that bends elegantly to the ground, the narcissus. This adaptation of the myth becomes at the same time an educational resource to work on in class in a multidisciplinary way.

In 1933, Chatto & Windus agreed to publish Samuel Beckett's More Pricks Than Kicks, a collection of ten interrelated stories—his first published work of fiction. At his editor's request, Beckett penned an additional story, "Echo's Bones", to serve as the final piece. However, he’d already killed off several of the characters—including the protagonist, Belacqua—throughout the book, and had to resurrect them from the dead. The story was politely rejected by his editor, as it was considered too imaginatively playful, too allusive, and too undisciplined—qualities now recognized as quintessentially Beckett. As a result, "Echo's Bones" (not to be confused with the poem and collection of poems of the same title) remained unpublished—until now, nearly eight decades later. This little-known text is introduced by the preeminent Beckett scholar, Dr. Mark Nixon, who situates the work in terms of its biographical context and textual references, examining how it is a vital link in the evolution of Beckett's early work. Beckett confessed that he included "all I knew" in the story. It harnesses an immense range of subjects: science, philosophy, religion, literature; combining fairy tales, gothic dreams, and classical myth. This posthumous publication marks the unexpected and highly exciting return of a literary legend.

With emotive stanzas that stir the senses, grip the emotions, and move the soul. Inspired from experiences, events, memorable books, movies, places, and such, each poem evokes strong feelings—sometimes of bliss, of sorrow, or of love. Some written in rhyme while others in free-verse, these short yet emotive poems also touch on topics like magic, truth, prejudice, nature, passion, and more. Furthermore, also included are meaningful photographs that heighten the readers’ feelings, taking them on a journey of inspiration from one page to the next. In his poem “Die With Me,” the poet talks of things that matter the most: “Let us learn how to die / So we can learn how to live / Drink every drop / Savor every ray of sunshine / Inhale the fragrances all around us / Be the beauty”. In “Worth Living For,” the poet talks of beauty, nature, and joy: “What makes life worth living for you? / I live for beauty / To behold a field of wildflowers / On a mountaintop”.
