The apocalypse has reawakened—and it wants blood. The Echo devoured our world, then slept for months. But now its convulsions threaten to destroy the safe little community I and my fellow survivors have built in an untouched wilderness. I can't let that happen. Maybe it's the cop in me or the Army veteran in me, but I need to take action. By going inside the parallel world known as the Echo. A hell full of ravenous beasts. I can't do it alone, though. And the only person I'll risk taking with me is Erin Harding, a former Marine who's also a loose cannon. The fact that I'm attracted to her only makes our mission more dangerous. Because I can barely restrain my lust for Erin. But I will never let her know that. To save Earth, we must penetrate the heart of the Echo and somehow seize control of it. Piece of cake. It's not like we have no idea how to do that. Yeah, we're all screwed. Echo Dominion is the second book in the Echo Power Trilogy of dark, steamy paranormal romances. Coming soon in audio narrated by Connor Crais & Lucy Rivers.

The feasibility of operating an acoustic echo sounder in an urban or industrial environment, without serious degradation in performance and without contributing to noise pollution, is confirmed. Anechoic absorbers placed about the acoustic antenna are the key to improving the sounder performance. Optimum operating frequencies are between 1 and 2 kHz. The design and operation of the all solid state circuitry is described.

In the late nineteenth century, a thriving immigrant population supported three German-language weekly newspapers in Arkansas. Most traces of the community those newspapers served disappeared with assimilation in the ensuing decades—but luckily, the complete run of one of the weeklies, Das Arkansas Echo, still exists, offering a lively picture of what life was like for this German immigrant community. “Das Arkansas Echo”: A Year in the Life of Germans in the Nineteenth-Century South examines topics the newspaper covered during its inaugural year. Kathleen Condray illuminates the newspaper’s crusade against Prohibition, its advocacy for the protection of German schools and the German language, and its promotion of immigration. We also learn about aspects of daily living, including food preparation and preservation, religion, recreation, the role of women in the family and society, health and wellness, and practical housekeeping. And we see how the paper assisted German speakers in navigating civic life outside their immigrant community, including the racial tensions of the post-Reconstruction South. “Das Arkansas Echo”: A Year in the Life of Germans in the Nineteenth-Century South offers a fresh perspective on the German speakers who settled in a modernizing Arkansas. Mining a valuable newspaper archive, Condray sheds light on how these immigrants navigated their new identity as southern Americans.

This book presents basic and advanced topics in the areas of sig nal theory and processing as applied to acoustic echo-location (sonar). It is written at the advanced undergraduate or graduate level, and as sumes that the reader is conversant with the concepts and mathematics associated with introductory graduate courses in signal processing such as linear and complex algebra, Fourier analysis, probability, advanced calculus, and linear system theory. The material is presented in a tuto rial fashion as a logical development starting with basic principles and leading to the development of topics in detection and estimation theory, waveform design, echo modeling, scattering theory, and spatial process ing. Examples are provided throughout the book to illustrate impor tant concepts and especially important relationships are boxed. The book addresses the practical aspects of receiver and waveform design, and therefore should be of interest to the practicing engineer as well as the student. Although much of the book is applicable to the general echo-location problem that includes radar, its emphasis is on acoustic echo location especially in regard to time mapping and the wideband or wavelet description of Doppler. Introductory signal theory material is included in the first chapter to provide a foundation for the material covered in the later chapters. A consistent notational convention is ob served throughout the book so that the various mathematical entities are readily identified. This is described in the glossary and symbol list.
