Even more than we might realize, the Garden of Eden story has supplied the foundation for Western civilization ever since the Roman Emperor Theodosius the Great granted the orthodox version of Christianity imperial support in the fourth century AD. Faced with the scientific and economic challenges of the 21st century, however, it's time to revisit our traditional understanding of our Christian heritage. St. Augustine's monumental work, "The City of God," built on his original sin interpretation of the Garden of Eden story, traditionally defined the role of the responsible individual living within the resulting, orthodox structure. But what is the role of such an individual living in an era that has witnessed the waning of the power and influence of that institutional authority-the authority built on Augustine's persuasive interpretation of the events described in the Garden of Eden story? Without throwing the baby out with the bath water, and by paying homage to Augustinian sacrifice and commitment to belief, Eden and the Individual: Christianity for the 21st Century explores that question. In the process it offers creative conclusions directed toward enhancing the meaning, and value, of individual lives. Given a fresh sense of purpose, every individual can then work toward creating, and preserving, the order and structure that have governed collective Western life. "In this awe-inspiring chronicle, indeed revelation of Christianity Misapplied, Mr. Mihelich, courageously, has given us a pearl to keep for ourselves. And we must." Ben Swearson, eBook Reviews Weekly

Why Does Marriage Today Seem To Be Such a Far Cry From Paradise?Let's face it. Our culture's version of marriage is not as God designed it to be. With a lot more emphasis on individualism and consumerism, today's married couples tend to lose sight of God's original purpose for marriage--a call for his people to take Jesus' message to the heart of everyday life. Marriage Made in Eden provides a radical alternative to today's view of marriage, giving a glimpse into the historical and cultural aspects that have shaped marriage in America. With this insightful analysis you'll learn how marriage has come to be in the state we now find it and about God's model and purpose for a sacred Christian union.

Charles Tomson examines the tale of Adam and Eve, the Serpent and the Tree of Knowledge. This story of temptation, disobedience and expulsion from the Garden of Eden, is known as ""The Fall"". It has dominated much of Christian thought for many centuries and has often been portrayed as a disaster of cosmic proportions. Together with its concept of ""Original Sin"" it has disturbed personal faith, often in an unhealthy way. This book challenges the reader to reconsider such ideas in the light of modern thought, without rejecting the vital core of personal faith.

In this thoughtful study, respected Old Testament scholar Patricia K. Tull explores the Scriptures for guidance on today's ecological crisis. Tull looks to the Bible for what it can tell us about our relationships, not just to the earth itself, but also to plant and animal life, to each other, to descendants who will inherit the planet from us, and to our Creator. She offers candid discussions on many current ecological problems that humans contribute to, such as the overuse of energy resources like gas and electricity, consumerism, food production systems--including land use and factory farming--and toxic waste. Each chapter concludes with discussion questions and a practical exercise, making it ideal for both group and individual study. This important book provides a biblical basis for thinking about our world differently and prompts us to consider changing our own actions. Six thousand years ago, God pronounced a curse upon this earth because of Adam's disobedience in Eden. The message of this book is a clarion call to twenty-first-century man to obey God's four commands given in Eden whereby evil will be held in check. God got this author's attention to write this book by one word spoken in his ear. It was back in 2011, he heard one word""write. The author did not know what subject God wanted him to write about, but then the impression came to his mind to write about creation and the fall of man. God gave man four commands! Number 4 is not really a command. It is really following God's example of resting and worshiping. If man worshiped God and held His name in sanctity, that would virtually wipe out crime and divorce. True worshipers will honor those two words of commitment that they made at the wedding altar"""I do." See Genesis 1:31. Crime and divorce, gone. Number 3 command is reproducing and subduing the earth (Gen. 1:28). The number 2 command is not to eat what God forbid (Gen. 2:16""17 and 1:29""30). Daniel adhered to this (Dan. 1:8). Command number 1 (work) is in Genesis 2:15""16. Dress the garden and keep it. God gave Adam a world that was "very good" while the twenty-first-century man has a world that is very bad. God is saying to twenty-first-century man, "If you keep what you are doing, you will keep getting what you are getting. Obey my commands and eat the good of the land." The message of the book? Honor God's creation. Love Him with all your heart, soul, and body and your neighbor as yourself. When the twenty-first-century man lives this way, evil will be held in check, and world conditions will improve.

The hills of Appalachia and the legal profession are fertile hunting grounds for Tall Tales. On many occasions, you will find a True Confession that becomes intertwined with a Tall Tale and after time it becomes somewhat difficult to separate the two. This is a collection of those Tall Tales and True Confessions. The title to many of these, such as "The Streaking Bootlegger," Pick The One You Want," "Topless At The Horse Show," and many others may provide a clue as to the correct category and again they may not. It will be up to the reader to separate the Tall Tales from the True Confessions, if they wish to do so. Hopefully, this collection will be very entertaining whether or not they try to seperate the two.
