Este ebook apresenta ao longo de seus capítulos, relatos e reflexões de vivências relacionadas à prática de atividade física, práticas esportivas e corporais, em projetos de extensão realizados em duas instituições de ensino público da Bahia: no âmbito do ensino técnico e tecnológico no IF Baiano; e no ensino superior, na Universidade do Estado da Bahia. O livro foi dividido em dois momentos, sendo o primeiro direcionado para reflexão das práticas extensionistas realizadas até o final do ano de 2019, antes da pandemia mundial pela Covid-19. Nessa etapa foram discutidos o valor da extensão para a comunidade, em que a instituição está inserida, assim como a relevância da prática de atividade física para grupos de diferentes idades, condições socioeconômicas, contextos culturais e territoriais. No segundo momento realizamos considerações acerca de atividades de extensão que foram realizadas a partir do estabelecimento da pandemia, com a necessidade de adaptações às práticas de atividades físicas e aos projetos de extensão que não poderiam mais ser realizados na modalidade presencial, ainda que houvesse a necessidade de manutenção dos cuidados com a saúde e de acesso aos benefícios promovidos pela prática de exercício físico. Este trabalho pretendeu ainda, traçar um paralelo sobre as principais características positivas e negativas associadas às diferentes modalidades de projetos de extensão realizados nos diferentes momentos de organização social, comunitária e de saúde vivenciados pela sociedade, tendo como marco o momento pandêmico. Direcionou também o foco para a Educação Física, com sua abrangência de práticas esportivas e corporais, atribuindo-lhe a responsabilidade de usar dessas possibilidades para envolver a sociedade e aproximá-la das instituições de ensino público, promovendo saúde, bem-estar, socialização, qualidade de vida, entre outros benefícios.

Disability-inclusive development is an essential condition for a sustainable future. A total institution is defined by Goffman as a place of residence and work where a large number of like-situated, individuals, cut off from the wider society for an appreciable period of time, together lead an enclosed, formally administered round of life. Prisons serve as a clear example, providing we appreciate that what is prison-like about prisons is found in institutions whose members have broken no laws. This volume deals with total institutions in general and, mental hospitals, in particular. The main focus is, on the world of the inmate, not the world of the staff. A chief concern is to develop a sociological version of the structure of the self. Each of the essays in this book were intended to focus on the same issue--the inmate's situation in an institutional context. Each chapter approaches the central issue from a different vantage point, each introduction drawing upon a different source in sociology and having little direct relation to the other chapters. This method of presenting material may be irksome, but it allows the reader to pursue the main theme of each paper analytically and comparatively past the point that would be allowable in chapters of an integrated book. If sociological concepts are to be treated with affection, each must be traced back to where it best applies, followed from there wherever it seems to lead, and pressed to disclose the rest of its family.
