Educar Matematicamente Jovens e Adultos na Contemporaneidade é um livro produzido a partir de reflexões desencadeadas no programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação de Jovens e Adultos da Universidade do Estado da Bahia – MPEJA – UNEB, contando com a interlocução de pesquisadores da Educação de Jovens e Adultos e da Educação Matemática de diversas Instituições de Educação Superior do país. Constituído de uma coletânea de textos que partem do pressuposto de que educar matematicamente jovens e adultos transcende o tradicional ensino de Matemática na EJA, assume a concepção de que o sujeito da Educação de Jovens e Adultos está inserido em grupos culturais diversos da cultura escolar e que suas práticas sociais são impregnadas de saberes matemáticos, sendo o papel da escola mobilizar essa cultura, por meio do diálogo entre essas culturas. Reconhece a autobiografia como meio pelo qual o docente da EJA pode acessar a cultura matemática de seus estudantes, promovendo a dialogicidade nas aulas de Matemática. Também reflete sobre estratégias diferenciadas para a abordagem da Matemática na EJA, tais como a Etnomatemática, a Resolução de Problemas, as Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação e a Interdisciplinaridade com a Arte como caminhos para impregnar de sentidos a Matemática escolar para os estudantes jovens e adultos.
