Een Nacht in Annwn Het vreemde verhaal van de BDE van de oude Willy Jones Annwn is het oeroude Welshe word voor de Hemel, en was, net als Walhalla, onderaards. De roman vertelt het verhaal van Willy, een oude Welshe schaapherder uit de heuvels, die zich heeft laten gaan na de dood van zijn geliefde vrouw. Op een dag sterft zijn oude hond, terwijl hij ermee aan het wandelen is, en Willy zakt ineen na een door het verdriet veroorzaakte hartaanval, hoewel hij de wil om te leven al lang voordien had opgegeven. Hij wordt echter wakker in een ziekenhuis en tracht zijn ervaring te begrijpen. Binnen korte tijd beseft hij dat zijn jonge verpleegster, Sarah, zijn overleden echtgenote is, en hij begint zich bewust te worden dat hij dood is. Het ontzet hem niet, maar is zelfs overgelukkig. Hij brengt ‘dagen’ door met Sarah in Annwn, waarbij zij hem rondleidt en uitlegt hoe de zaken werken ‘in de Hemel’. Hij is verwonderd over alles dat hij ziet en hoort, tot hij plots zonder waarschuwing naar zijn lichaam wordt teruggeroepen. Zijn lichaam was ook in een ziekenhuis, maar in de fysieke wereld, en hij wordt wakker na een BDE (bijna-dood-ervaring). Dan begint hij zijn vrouw opnieuw te zien, en zijn herinneringen aan zijn verblijf van verscheidene dagen in Annwn keren terug. Zijn leven wordt getransformeerd en hij hij heeft een nieuwe wil om te leven, werkend met zijn vrouw van De Andere Zijde ten voordele van de minder gegoeden om hem heen, tot ook zijn einde er op een dag aankomt en hij weer voor altijd één is met zijn vrouw.
