The present thesis deals with strategic cost management in theory and practice. One aim of this study is to provide a theoretical overview of strategic cost management. In addition the paper explores to what extent strategic cost management is implemented in practice. In this context capital intensive companies are of particular interest, as they increasingly have to deal with long-term cost considerations due to their high capital intensity, are less flexible in terms of cost structure and are generally faced with long-term decisions. The study consequently addresses the importance of strategic cost management in capital-intensive companies. The issue is discussed on the basis of expert interviews. The results suggest that capital-intensive companies attach great importance to strategic cost management. Due to the high level of investment such companies are less flexible in their actions. This means that strategy and future orientation play an important role in these companies as short-term modulation is hardly possible or associated with high costs. The companies surveyed have adopted a number of strategically oriented instruments to assist them in strategic and long-term decisions. In addition, strategic planning and investment decisions play a major role.

Robot Oriented Design written by Thomas Bock and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-05-05 with Computers categories.

The Cambridge Handbooks on Construction Robotics series focuses on the implementation of automation and robot technology to renew the construction industry and to arrest its declining productivity. The series is intended to give professionals, researchers, lecturers, and students basic conceptual and technical skills and implementation strategies to manage, research, or teach the implementation of advanced automation and robot-technology-based processes and technologies in construction. Currently, the implementation of modern developments in product structures (modularity and design for manufacturing), organizational strategies (just in time, just in sequence, and pulling production), and informational aspects (computer-aided design/manufacturing or computer-integrated manufacturing) are lagging because of the lack of modern integrated machine technology in construction. The Cambridge Handbooks on Construction Robotics books discuss progress in robot systems theory and demonstrate their integration using real systematic applications and projections for off-site as well as on-site building production. Robot-Oriented Design and Management introduces the design, innovation, and management methodologies that are key to the realization and implementation of the advanced concepts and technologies presented in the subsequent volumes. This book describes the efficient deployment of advanced construction and building technology. It is concerned with the coadaptation of construction products, processes, organization, and management, and with automated/robotic technology, so that the implementation of modern technology becomes easier and more efficient. It is also concerned with technology and innovation management methodologies and the generation of life cycle-oriented views related to the use of advanced technologies in construction.

Guide To Performance Based Road Maintenance Contracts written by Asian Development Bank and has been published by Asian Development Bank this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-04-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Road asset management is one of the top priorities of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy 2020. The implementation of performance-based road maintenance contracts (PBCs)—an essential element of road asset management—promotes effective and efficient maintenance of road networks. Well-designed PBCs keep roads in predefined good condition at relatively low cost. This guide aims to help policy makers in CAREC member countries understand and implement PBCs. After a brief history of the development of PBCs, it discusses the various types of PBCs and their relative advantages and disadvantages. It highlights PBC implementation in selected developed, developing, and transitional countries, including CAREC member countries, to illustrate best practices.
