The Cambridge Handbooks on Construction Robotics series focuses on the implementation of automation and robot technology to renew the construction industry and to arrest its declining productivity. The series is intended to give professionals, researchers, lecturers, and students basic conceptual and technical skills and implementation strategies to manage, research, or teach the implementation of advanced automation and robot-technology-based processes and technologies in construction. Currently, the implementation of modern developments in product structures (modularity and design for manufacturing), organizational strategies (just in time, just in sequence, and pulling production), and informational aspects (computer-aided design/manufacturing or computer-integrated manufacturing) are lagging because of the lack of modern integrated machine technology in construction. The Cambridge Handbooks on Construction Robotics books discuss progress in robot systems theory and demonstrate their integration using real systematic applications and projections for off-site as well as on-site building production. Robot-Oriented Design and Management introduces the design, innovation, and management methodologies that are key to the realization and implementation of the advanced concepts and technologies presented in the subsequent volumes. This book describes the efficient deployment of advanced construction and building technology. It is concerned with the coadaptation of construction products, processes, organization, and management, and with automated/robotic technology, so that the implementation of modern technology becomes easier and more efficient. It is also concerned with technology and innovation management methodologies and the generation of life cycle-oriented views related to the use of advanced technologies in construction.

Robotics, Second Edition is an essential addition to the toolbox of any engineer or hobbyist involved in the design of any type of robot or automated mechanical system. It is the only book available that takes the reader through a step-by step design process in this rapidly advancing specialty area of machine design. This book provides the professional engineer and student with important and detailed methods and examples of how to design the mechanical parts of robots and automated systems. Most robotics and automation books today emphasis the electrical and control aspects of design without any practical coverage of how to design and build the components, the machine or the system. The author draws on his years of industrial design experience to show the reader the design process by focusing on the real, physical parts of robots and automated systems. Answers the questions: How are machines built? How do they work? How does one best approach the design process for a specific machine? Thoroughly updated with new coverage of modern concepts and techniques, such as rapid modeling, automated assembly, parallel-driven robots and mechatronic systems Calculations for design completed with Mathematica which will help the reader through its ease of use, time-saving methods, solutions to nonlinear equations, and graphical display of design processes Use of real-world examples and problems that every reader can understand without difficulty Large number of high-quality illustrations Self-study and homework problems are integrated into the text along with their solutions so that the engineering professional and the student will each find the text very useful

Robotic Industrialization written by Thomas Bock and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-08-10 with Nature categories.

In this volume, concepts, technologies and developments in the field of building-component manufacturing - based on concrete, brick, wood and steel as building materials and on large-scale prefabrication, delivering complex, customized components and products - are introduced and discussed. Robotic industrialization refers to the transformation of parts and low-level components into higher-level components, modules and finally building systems by highly mechanized, automated, or robot-supported industrial settings in structured off-site environments. Components and modules are open building systems (in modular building product structures) that are delivered by suppliers to original equipment manufacturers such as, for example, large-scale prefabrication companies or automated/robotic on-site factories. In particular, innovative large-scale prefabrication companies have altered the building structures, manufacturing processes, and organizational structures significantly to be able to assemble in their factories high-level components and modules from Tier-1 suppliers into customized buildings by heavily utilizing robotic technology in combination with automated logistics and production lines.

Introduces electrical engineers and scientists with a background in robotics to real-time robotics and to designing programs applying message passing without violating fundamental robot laws. For readers without a robotics background, introduces existing robot programming languages and programming environments, classifications, and approaches. Applies a hybrid object-oriented environment to various concurrency models that provide different granularities of parallelism to support the design of robot tasks and make their execution more efficient. The English is fairly stilted but usually comprehensible with a bit of effort. Based on a Ph.D. thesis for the University of Paderborn, Germany. The first IFAC Workshop on Human-Oriented Design of Advanced Robotics Systems (DARS '95) was organized and held in Austria in 1995 because new approaches for advanced robotics systems are expected to be applied in industrial production and other areas in the near future and new ergonomic, social and cultural aspects must be considered if employees are to work with these systems. The workshop provided a forum for researchers to discuss and overview these aspects. This postprint volume contains 33 of the 34 papers presented at the workshop and deals with: bull; system design, especially of man-machine interface, for autonomous, semi-autonomous and tele-operated mode and for tele-existence bull; organizational and social aspects with respect to the environment in which the system is embedded bull; cultural aspects due to different living and working traditions and conditions of the people involved bull; economical aspects

As a segment of the broader science of automation, robotics has achieved tremendous progress in recent decades due to the advances in supporting technologies such as computers, control systems, cameras and electronic vision, as well as micro and nanotechnology. Prototyping a design helps in determining system parameters, ranges, and in structuring an overall better system. Robotics is one of the industrial design fields in which prototyping is crucial for improved functionality. Prototyping of Robotic Systems: Applications of Design and Implementation provides a framework for conceptual, theoretical, and applied research in robotic prototyping and its applications. Covering the prototyping of various robotic systems including the complicated industrial robots, the tiny and delicate nanorobots, medical robots for disease diagnosis and treatment, as well as the simple robots for educational purposes, this book is a useful tool for those in the field of robotics prototyping and as a general reference tool for those in related fields.
