Daraus werden im Anschluss der Forschungsbeitrag und die zu beantwortenden Forschungsfragen abgeleitet. Das zweite Kapitel der Arbeit soll die theoretisch-konzeptionellen Grundlagen der Arbeit erläutern, die dem Verständnis der nachfolgenden Untersuchung dienen. Dazu werden die zentralen Begriffe der Adoptionstheorie (Abschnitt 2.1) und der verhaltenswissenschaftlichen Preisforschung (Abschnitt 2.2) dargelegt. Daneben werden wichtige Theorien und Konzepte der Psychologie vorgestellt, welche die Wahrnehmung von nichtlinearen Tarifen erklären. Das zweite Kapitel schließt mit einer Erläuterung der nichtlinearen Tarifgestaltung und der Darstellung der für die empirische Untersuchung relevanten Tarife ab (Abschnitt 2.3). Im dritten Kapitel wird zunächst ein ausführlicher Literaturüberblick zu der Rolle des Preises im Adoptionsprozess (Abschnitt 3.1.1), zu nichtlinearen Tarifen (Abschnitt 3.1.2) und zum Innovationspricing geschaffen (Abschnitt 3.1.3). Daraus lassen sich zentrale Forschungslücken und die damit verbundenen Forschungsfragen ableiten, was eine Einordnung der vorliegenden Untersuchung in die bestehende Forschung ermöglicht. Anschließend werden das Untersuchungsmodell der empirischen Untersuchung und die zugrunde liegenden Annahmen erläutert (Abschnitt 3.2). Darauf basierend wird die Konzeptualisierung der relevanten Konstrukte vorgenommen (Abschnitt 3.3). Im vierten Kapitel folgt die Herleitung der Forschungshypothesen, die es empirisch zu über-prüfen gilt. Dabei werden die Hypothesen zum Einfluss nichtlinearer Tarife auf das Konsumentenverhalten (Abschnitt 4.1), zum Einfluss der Tariffaktoren auf die Adoption (Abschnitt 4.2) und zum Einfluss der Produktfaktoren auf die Adoption (Abschnitt 4.3) auf Basis der bestehenden Forschung aufgestellt. Die Darstellung der empirischen Untersuchung erfolgt im fünften Kapitel, die sich in eine Vor- und eine Hauptstudie unterteilt. Ziel der Vorstudie ist es, eine realistische Nutzungsmenge der Innovation und akzeptable Tarifkomponenten für die Hauptstudie zu ermitteln. Die Vorgehensweise und die Ergebnisse der Vorstudie werden in Abschnitt 5.1 dargelegt. Darauf basierend steht die Auswirkung nichtlinearer Tarife auf die Adoptionsbereitschaft im Fokus der Hauptstudie, deren Durchführung und Ergebnisse in Abschnitt 5.2 erörtert werden.
