Master's Thesis from the year 2013 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: 1,3, University of Münster (Institute for Value-Based Marketing), course: E-Commerce, language: English, abstract: Showrooming is a phenomenon that describes a consumer’s behavior of collecting information about a product or service in a physical store and purchasing it in an online store afterwards. For retailers, this behavior can be a major opportunity or thread. To give insights into the phenomenon the thesis aims to determine a) channel attributes that encourage or deject customers from attending showrooming and b) how customer characteristics distinguish showrooming customers from customers who did not purchase online? An empirical study collected data of 334 respondents via an online questionnaire. 149 showroomers and 185 respondents who did not showroom during a recent product purchase were compared regarding their perceived difference of channel attributes in the offline and the online channel. Further, both groups were compared in various customer characteristics. The results of the binary logistic regression reveal that among all observed channel attributes the difference in price, service, purchase convenience, enjoyment and risk perception between the online and offline shop have a significant impact on the likelihood of showrooming, whereas the assortment and after-sales services did not show significant impact. Among the observation of customer characteristics, a positive attitude towards free riding, towards shopping and retailer loyalty were found to have a significant impact on the showrooming likelihood. The internet experience and the level of price-consciousness showed no significant impact. With the results, the thesis supports physical retail stores to adjust the design of channel attributes in order to avoid showrooming behaviors of their customers. It also helps retailers to identify customers that are more likely to attend showrooming and target them specifically to prevent them from attending showrooming.

Experience Marketing written by Bernd Schmitt and has been published by Now Publishers Inc this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Business & Economics categories.

Experience Marketing examines a new and exciting concept that is of interest to academics and marketing practitioners who have come to realize that understanding how consumers experience brands, and how to provide appealing brand experiences for them, is critical for differentiating their offerings in a competitive marketplace. Understanding consumer experiences is a core task for consumer research, but consumer and marketing research on experience is still emerging. Experience Marketing reviews and discusses experience research conducted in various disciplines and in sub-disciplines of marketing. The author begins with an exploration of the experience concept itself. What do we mean by "experience"? What are consumer experiences? How are they different from other established constructs in our field? Next, this monograph reviews the key concepts of experience marketing and provides empirical research findings that shed light on consumer insights on experiences. It also examines the strategic management and marketing literature on customer experience and the practical frameworks for managing experiences. Finally, it explores an exciting emerging area of research-the interface of consumer experience and happiness.

Price Management written by Hermann Simon and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-12-11 with Business & Economics categories.

In this book, the world’s foremost experts on pricing integrate theoretical rigor and practical application to present a comprehensive resource that covers all areas of the field. This volume brings together quantitative and qualitative approaches and highlights the most current innovations in theory and practice. Going beyond the traditional constraints of “price theory” and “price policy,” the authors coined the term “price management” to represent a holistic approach to pricing strategy and tactical implementation. They remind us that the Ancient Romans used one word, pretium, to mean both price and value. This is the fundamental philosophy that drives successful price management where producer and customer meet. Featuring dozens of examples and case studies drawn from their extensive research, consulting, and teaching around the world, Simon and Fassnacht cover all aspects of pricing following the price management process with its four phases: strategy, analysis, decision, and implementation. Thereby, the authors take into account the nuances across industry sectors, including consumer goods, industrial products, services, and trade/distribution. In particular, they address the implications of technological advancements, such as the Internet and new measurement and sensor technologies that have led to a wealth of price management innovations, such as flat rates, freemium, pay-per-use, or pay-what-you-want. They also address the emergence of new price metrics, Big Data applications, two-sided price systems, negative prices, and the sharing economy, as well as emerging payment systems such as bitcoin. The result is a “bible” for leaders who recognize that price is not only a means to drive profit in the short term, but a tool to generate sustained growth in shareholder value over the longer term, and a primer for researchers, instructors, and students alike. Praise for Price Management “This book is truly state of the art and the most comprehensive work in price management.” - Prof. Philip Kotler, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University “This very important book builds an outstanding bridge between science and practice.“ - Kasper Rorsted, CEO, Adidas “This book provides practical guidelines on value creation, communication and management, which is an imperative for businesses to survive in the coming era of uncertainty.” - Dr. Chang-Gyu Hwang, Chairman and CEO, KT Corporation (Korea Telecom)

Carried Away written by Rachel Bowlby and has been published by Columbia University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-09-17 with Social Science categories.

Asserting that a history of shopping was, until recently, a history of women, Rachel Bowlby trains her eye on the evolution of the modern shopper. She uses a compelling blend of history, literary analysis, and cultural criticism to explore the rise of department stores and supermarkets of the United States, France, and Great Britain. Bowlby recalls the fascinating early days of these institutions. In the mid-nineteenth century, when department stores first developed, their fabulous new buildings brought middle-class women into town, where they could indulge in what was then a new activity: a day's shopping. The stores offered luxury, flattering women into believing that they belonged in a beautiful environment. It is here, Bowlby argues, that the idea of the modern woman's passion for fashion and shopping took hold. Developed in the twentieth century, supermarkets took an opposite tack: they offered functionality, standardization, and cheapness. However, Bowlby claims, despite their differences, the two institutions belong together as emblematic of their respective eras' social developments: the department store with the growth of cities, the supermarket with the proliferation of suburbs. With their dazzling lights and displays, both supermarkets and department stores were thought to produce in females an enhanced or trance-like state of mind. For readers who regard shopping as a spectator or participatory sport, and for those who wish to understand our culture and the psychology of women, or those who simply enjoy a witty, literate romp through the aisles, Carried Away is the perfect purchase.
