What is the Principle of Relativity? This short article is one of the very first scientific essays written by Einstein intended for the general, non-scientist, audience. It was originally written, in 1914, for the readers of one of the most widely-read newspapers in Germany at the time. Einstein published his two seminal papers on special relativity in 1905, and his work was gradually being recognized. In 1913, Max Planck and Walther Nernst made a trip to Zurich, where Einstein had been mostly living throughout his young adult life, to recruit Einstein (back) to Germany, which he agreed to. It was a triumphant return for Einstein. This article was published to celebrate this occasion, and his newly-earned prestige. Special relativity is based on the special principle of relativity, or simply the principle of relativity. This short newspaper article (~5 pages) explains what the principle of relativity is, at a very high level, and what kind of general interesting phenomena are predicted from the theory. The predictions of special relativity have all been confirmed, without exceptions. As for general relativity, he ended up completing his field equations of gravity at the end of 1915, and this article briefly describes why the generalization was necessary. This article was originally written by Einstein in German, and it is now in the public domain. This short booklet attempts at a new translation to give a somewhat clearer account of what Einstein wanted to convey in his original writing. A completely new English translation - 2024!

Albert Einstein, a Nobel laureate, has changed the world with his research and theories. He is regarded as the founder of modern physics. Besides ‘Relativity’, he worked on Photoelectric effect, Brownian motion, Special relativity, and Mass-Energy equivalence (E=mc2). They reformed the views on time, space and matter. Allert Einstein developed the general theory of ‘Relativity’. He published ‘Relativity: The Special and the General Theory’ in German. Its first English translation was published in 1920. The book deals with the special theory of relativity, the general theory of relativity, and the considerations on the universe as a whole The book gives an exact insight into the theory of Relativity. It covers, the system of Co-ordinates; The Lorentz Transformation; The experiment of Fizeau; Minkowski’s four dimensional space; The Gravitational Field; Gaussian Co-ordinates; The structure of space, and lot many other scientific concepts thus will be highly beneficial to the Readers. A must have book for everyone related to modern physics.

E=mc2 is the world’s most famous equation. Discover the thought process and physics behind general relativity and Einstein’s contribution to science, in this authorized edition. In this collection of his seven most important essays on physics, Einstein guides his reader step-by-step through the many layers of scientific theory that formed a starting point for his discoveries. By both supporting and refuting the theories and scientific efforts of his predecessors, Einstein reveals in a clear voice the origins and meaning of such significant topics as physics and reality, the fundamentals of theoretical physics, the common language of science, the laws of science and of ethics, and an elementary derivation of the equivalence of mass and energy. This remarkable collection allows the general reader to understand not only the significance of Einstein’s masterpiece, but also the brilliant mind behind it. This authorized ebook features a new introduction by Neil Berger and an illustrated biography of Albert Einstein, which includes rare photos and never-before-seen documents from the Albert Einstein Archives at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The revised and updated 2nd edition of this established textbook provides a self-contained introduction to the general theory of relativity, describing not only the physical principles and applications of the theory, but also the mathematics needed, in particular the calculus of differential forms. Updated throughout, the book contains more detailed explanations and extended discussions of several conceptual points, and strengthened mathematical deductions where required. It includes examples of work conducted in the ten years since the first edition of the book was published, for example the pedagogically helpful concept of a "river of space" and a more detailed discussion of how far the principle of relativity is contained in the general theory of relativity. Also presented is a discussion of the concept of the 'gravitational field' in Einstein's theory, and some new material concerning the 'twin paradox' in the theory of relativity. Finally, the book contains a new section about gravitational waves, exploring the dramatic progress in this field following the LIGO observations. Based on a long-established masters course, the book serves advanced undergraduate and graduate level students, and also provides a useful reference for researchers.

The Einstein Theory of Relativity usually encompasses two interrelated theories by Albert Einstein: special relativity and general relativity. Special relativity applies to elementary particles and their interactions, describing all their physical phenomena except gravity. General relativity explains the law of gravitation and its relation to other forces of nature. It applies to the cosmological and astrophysical realm, including astronomy. The theory transformed theoretical physics and astronomy during the 20th century, superseding a 200-year-old theory of mechanics created primarily by Isaac Newton. It introduced concepts including spacetime as a unified entity of space and time, relativity of simultaneity, kinematic and gravitational time dilation, and length contraction. In the field of physics, relativity improved the science of elementary particles and their fundamental interactions, along with ushering in the nuclear age. With relativity, cosmology and astrophysics predicted extraordinary astronomical phenomena such as neutron stars, black holes, and gravitational waves.

Special Theory Of Relativity written by Ajoy K. Ghatak and has been published by Anshan Pub this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009 with Special relativity (Physics) categories.

The Special Theory of Relativity (STR) is the physical theory of measurement in inertial frames of reference proposed by Albert Einstein. It is deemed special because the theory or principle of relativity is applied only to inertial frames. In this books, Prof Ghatak sets out and explains the basic physics behind Einstein's theory, and at the same time he gives the reader a concise, enthusiastic overview of Einstein's massive contribution to science and the knowledge of mankind. In 1999, Time Magazine names Albert Einstein as "The Person of the Century." This book tells us why. The introduction deals with a summary of Einstein's work, Chapter One discusses Tiem Dilation and Length Contraction, Chapter Two deals with Mass-energy Relationship and Lorentz Tansformations, and Chapters Three and Four reproduce two of his original ground breaking papers from 1905. "Special Theory of Relativity" can be read by physics and engineering undergraduates as a support text on their courses, but it is of equal interest to readers of general science and fans of Albert Einstein.
