Einstein’s Revolution: A Study of Theory Unification gives students of physics and philosophy, and general readers, an epistemological insight into the genesis of Einstein’s special relativity and its further unification with other theories. The book starts with an introductory analysis of the reasons for mature theory change in science. This leads to a discussion about special relativity genesis. The present book elicits the reasons for the second scientific revolution. According to Chapter 1, one has to abandon the "great genius" approach in favor of mundane Heidegger’s existential analytic with Dasein as “a way of life shared by the members of scientific community”. Scientific revolutions should be considered as clashes of diverse “mathematical projections of nature” consisting of bundles of practices. In Chapter 2, it is revealed that Quantum and the Relativistic revolutions had a common origin – a skirmish between the Newtonian mechanics, Maxwellian electrodynamics, Boltzmann’s statistical mechanics and Thomson’s thermodynamics. The skirmish was disclosed by Planck who stressed that the paradigms “must be modified to remain compatible”. Planck took the first step, while Einstein took the next ones owing to light quanta and special relativity. According to Chapter 3, general relativity was better than its rivals for the reason that it encompassed them all.

Почему классические механика и электродинамика были «опровергнуты» одновременно в начале XXв. ? – Квантовая и релятивистская революции были одновременными потому, что имели одну и ту же причину – глубокий конфликт между базисными исследовательскими традициями классической физики- ньютоновской механикой, максвелловской электродинамикой, больцмановской статистической механикой и классической термодинамикой. – В общем случае, причины второй научной революции – сложное и уникальное взаимодействие внешних (социальных) и внутренних (когнитивных) факторов. Внешние факторы описываются лаконичной фразой Фридриха Ницше: «Бог умер». Это – набравшая силу к концу XIXв. безудержная модернизация всех сфер общественной жизни, состоявшая прежде всего в становлении индустриального общества с его коренной ломкой экономического уклада, традиционных политических институтов, культурных традиций, ценностей социума. Это – интенсивная «секуляризация» всех сфер общественной жизни, рост эгоизма, цинизма, материализма, прагматизма и позитивизма. Это – становление Большой Науки (Big Science) и постепенное превращение знания в своеобразный ‘товар’, безличный ‘продукт духовного производства’, который можно обменивать, рекламировать, покупать и продавать. Теперь знание, в еще большей степени, чем ранее, - сложный социальный конструкт, отражающий специфику не только природных процессов, но и сложных отношений внутри научного сообщества и социума в целом. Внутренние причины – это появление более совершенной экспериментальной техники и, соответственно, новых опытных данных, трудно укладывавшихся в прокрустовы ложа старых исследовательских традиций и рассматриваемых в контекстах внутренних разломов, «разладов» в структуре научного знания, борьба и взаимодействие, конкуренция самих исследовательских программ, «парадигм», традиций, «практик» друг с другом, дальнейшая безудержная математизация научного знания и т.д. Взаимодействие этих двух групп факторов, определяется прежде всего тем, что «внешние» факторы вовсе не отменяют «внутренних», но изменяют «веса», значимость, роли этих факторов в ситуациях смены базисных парадигм. Нарастающая математизация научного знания, ужесточающиеся требования к непротиворечивости и взаимной согласованности приводят к тому, что доминирующим оказывается т.н. ‘интертеоретический контекст’, определяющий ведущую роль такого фактора как согласованность встретившихся друг с другом «старых» парадигм.
