El arte de tratar a las mujeres es la obra de un misógino. No obstante, en sus páginas se halla contenido el grato sabor estilístico que caracteriza la prosa de Arthur Schopenhauer. Aunque Schopenhauer haya tenido la determinación de expresar sus ideas sobre el gentil sexo, lo cierto es que no ha sido el único filósofo que se ha expresado al respecto. Nietzsche, por ejemplo, también nos ha dicho algo sobre las mujeres; aunque en su caso, el influjo de Schopenhauer es notorio. Del mismo modo, parece que tan desafortunada forma de hablar de las mujeres obedece a los también desafortunados sucesos que con ellas tuvieron ambos filósofos. Sin embargo, hurgando en la historia de la filosofía notamos que, a pesar de las eventuales excepciones, las relaciones entre los filósofos y las mujeres han generado irremediables desilusiones. Tal es el caso de Kierkegaard, Abelardo, Heidegger oWittgenstein, por ejemplo. Esto, quizá, ha sido uno de los móviles del porqué la filosofía parece un asunto puramente masculino.
