Es un libro que no pretende enseñar la técnica y el arte de hacer Collage y mucho menos trazar una historia del Collage, exponiendo los nombres y obras, aunque al final contiene una breve reseña histórica. De hecho, nunca pensé que realmente se pudiera enseñar a alguien una forma de cortar o pegar. Cuando hablo de Collage, pienso exactamente en Collages formados por fotografías y reproducciones impresas. Todo el trabajo fue concebido sobre las fotografías como fragmentos. Cuando concebí una teoría de la creación del Collage tal vez en el fondo el libro trate de eso -, lo pensé desde el punto de vista más primario, es decir, desde sus instrumentos y materiales. El Collage, como cualquier otra forma de representación, presupone el uso de ciertos materiales e instrumentos y también, de ciertas etapas, que deben cumplirse a lo largo del procedimiento. El primer paso consiste en elegir los elementos, las figuras que se planea usar y recortarlos según la forma conveniente. A esta etapa, obviamente denominé RECORTE. El material resultante de esta operación es lo que se denomina FRAGMENTOS o FIGURAS. La siguiente fase consiste en el montaje, haciendo coincidir las figuras recortadas. En este movimiento, o momento, suelo utilizar la expresión ENCUENTROS, que sirve para designar todo tipo de aproximaciones que tienden a realizar las figuras liberadas de su contexto anterior. La mayoría de los estudios sobre el Collage, ingenuamente, siempre intentan ponerlo en un juego de oposiciones, de binarismo entre un cortar-pegar, rasgar-coser, desmontar-ensamblar, separar-unir, extraer-embutir, dispersar-organizar, romper-reparar, cortar-coser, ignorando el intervalo significativo que se da entre esas etapas. Así mismo los lingüistas han intentado tomarlo como un lenguaje de oposición, sin explicar cómo se articulan las figuras. En este sentido, la fenomenología de los encuentros parece bastante oportuna para explicar este espacio de acción del encuentro de las figuras, localizado exactamente en el medio de los dos extremos, entre el cortar y el pegar. El último paso, que da nombre al procedimiento, es el uso de la COLA, y tiene como objetivo fijar una figura a otra, o a un soporte.

Ha escrito y publicado el libro de cuentos "Después del fuego" y la obra de no ficción "Ecos del silencio", un trabajo de investigación y de entrevistas a personas de Lobos secuestradas durante la dictadura. On the occasion of the celebrations of the bicentennial anniversary of Chile, and the centennial anniversary of the National Museum of Fine Arts, constructed in 1910 as part of the festivities of the Independence centennial, the MNBA planned a series of exhibitions under the title of Centenario. The invention of collage by Picasso and Braque in 1912 proved to be a dramatic turning point in the development of Cubism and Futurism and ultimately one of the most significant innovations in twentieth-century art.
