"For those who have the privilege and the daring to read poetry, the surprise and discovery never end. Such is the case with the poetics of Dr. Jacob Isaac in the twenty-two poems that make up his book Sense of Enigma presented here in its bilingual (English-Spanish) version. Due to my audacity to reincarnate his poetry for Spanish readers, I have recreated them in the Spanish Language and hopefully without betraying them in the traditional possibility of "traditore traduttore." The creation of this poet is challenging and uncommon." Luis Alberto Ambroggio North-American Academy of the Spanish Language The author of Sense of Enigma, Jacob Isaac, explores almost all the throes and imaginative possibilities of Fantasy, as it affects the human mind, the inner self with feelings, and even some physical attributes of man. This in-depth poetic report will stimulate the thoughts of habits, amusements, pride, and other sometimes hidden responses when experimenting with fantasy. Its imagery opens many doors and closes none Rex B. Valentine - USA I am deeply impressed with the skillful hand of Mr. Jacob Isaac in writing poetry. He has powerful pen that can magnify the barely unseen to make it apparent to the naked eyes. He is one of those poets who can touch the human soul by simply saying a word. How he transforms images into reality and reality into images is quite remarkable. In effect, Mr. Jacob Isaac's writings, are collections of precious jewels in the art of poetry.

Borges once stated that he had never created a character: 'It's always me, subtly disguised'. This book focuses on the ways in which Borges uses events and experiences from his own life, in order to demonstrate how they become the principal structuring motifs of his work. It aims to show how these experiences, despite being 'heavily disguised', are crucial components of some of Borges's most canonical short stories, particularly from the famous collections Ficciones and El Aleph. Exploring the rich tapestry of symmetries, doubles and allusions and the roles played by translation and the figure of the creator, the book provides new readings of these stories, revealing their hidden personal, emotional and spiritual dimensions. These insights shed fresh light on Borges's supreme literary craftsmanship and the intimate puzzles of his fictions.

Out Of Context written by Daniel Balderston and has been published by Duke University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993-03-12 with Literary Criticism categories.

In Jorge Luis Borges's finely wrought, fantastic stories, so filigreed with strange allusions, critics have consistently found little to relate to the external world, to history--in short, to reality. Out of Context corrects this shortsighted view and reveals the very real basis of the Argentine master's purported "irreality." By providing the historical context for some of the writer's best-loved and least understood works, this study also gives us a new sense of Borges's place within the context of contemporary literature. Through a detailed examination of seven stories, Daniel Balderston shows how Borges's historical and political references, so often misread as part of a literary game, actually open up a much more complex reality than the one made explicit to the reader. Working in tension with the fantastic aspects of Borges' work, these precise references to realities outside the text illuminate relations between literature and history as well as the author's particular understanding of both. In Borges's perspective as it is revealed here, history emerges as an "other" only partially recoverable in narrative form. From what can be recovered, Balderston is able to clarify Borges's position on historical episodes and trends such as colonialism, the Peronist movement, "Western culture," militarism, and the Spanish invasion of the Americas. Informed by a wide reading of history, a sympathetic use of critical theory, and a deep understanding of Borges's work, this iconoclastic study provides a radical new approach to one of the most celebrated and—until now—hermetic authors of our time.

Was the ancient knowledge of the holographic nature of mind and the reality model what discovered quantum physics? Did the Egyptians know the term autopoiesis was utilized to discover the process of cognition in living creatures and had revolutionized the world of biology? Did they hide the hieroglyphic texts that contain symbols that had gone unnoticed by the Egyptians and that explain the rationale of the Great Pyramid? What was Plato referring to in one of his speeches when he indicated that, periodically, a catastrophe loomed over the Earth that would return human beings back into a state of childhood? Overall, consciousness fills a major gap in the field of thought and unravels the largest of puzzles: the genealogy of consciousness.

Noted scholars of Latin American and Spanish literature here explore the literary history of Latin America through the representation of iconic female characters. Focusing both on canonical novels and on works virtually unknown outside their original countries, the essays discuss the important ways in which these characters represent nature, history, race and sex, the effects of globalization, and the unknowable "other." They examine how both male and female writers portray Latin American women, reinterpreting the dynamics between the genders across boundaries and historical periods. Drawing on recent theories in literary criticism, gender, and Latin American studies, these essays illuminate the women characters as conduits for the appreciation of their countries and cultures.
