Formaron grupos rituales que inclu�an bailes r�tmicos y la ingesti�n de sustancias psicotr�picas que causaban estados emocionales ext�ticos. El estado de �xtasis se sent�a como la m�s alta conexi�n celestial, y su miedo a la muerte quedaba reemplazado por felicidad, serenidad y una luz deslumbrante. La experiencia se sent�a como despertar a un mundo donde todas las cosas existen en completa unidad y como un profundo sentido de uni�n con Dios. Sin embargo, sus ataques de �xtasis alteraron su estructura cerebral, causando la evoluci�n de un cerebro defectuoso. Este defecto cerebral fue luego transmitido a las generaciones sucesivas, convirti�ndose en una anomal�a gen�tica entre todas las personas de fe religiosa.
