La investigación El ethos de las víctimas de desplazamiento en la narrativa colombiana es una confirmación de la importancia de la creación de ficciones que permitan nombrar lo innombrable a propósito del reconocimiento de la experiencia de desplazamiento como un quiebre, una desgarradura colectiva que nos reclama como sociedad. “Somos una nación desplazada” y esa es la cara que nos devuelven las cinco obras narrativas estudiadas en esta investigación. El exilio interior y el desplazamiento como cautiverio; la errancia como representación de la crisis de identidad del sujeto; el cuerpo como lugar político y el destierro sin desplazamiento; la experiencia del desalojo como renuncia y resistencia, como una forma de vaciar el escenario de la guerra; la delgada línea que separa las víctimas y los victimarios en un país en el que la violencia estructural y la violencia cultural alimentan las violencias directas son algunas de las imágenes que encarnan los personajes de estas obras. Con horror y con dolor estas historias construyen una poética del desplazamiento en Colombia, en la que las víctimas son ubicadas entre lo aberrante y lo natural, entre lo anómalo y lo regular, entre lo monstruoso y lo extraordinario.

The structuring of Urban Space is as topical as ever in this era of climate change, hyper-urbanisation, post-digital labour markets, and geo-political power shifts. Scholarship of the contemporary urban condition is dominated by studies and examples drawn from the global north. Yet, cities of the global south are distinctive from those of the global north. Socio-political conditions structure patterns and practices of urban reproduction and, in turn, Urban Space reflects conditions in the Global South. The result is different space related outcomes. This is the central topic of this collection. In this book, a unique collection of case study-based accounts posits both English and Spanish academic literature to interpret and reinterpret the appropriation, negotiation and reconfiguration of Urban Space in cities, from Colombia to Namibia. This collection will be of particular interest to urban scholars and others interested in contemporary urban change, especially those with an interest in the Global South. Readers will encounter new perspectives on the State’s enduring influence in urban land and territory reconfiguration and the contrasting wider rhetoric that affords and legitimises a key role for the private sector. Although only 2 percent of Colombia’s population identifies as indigenous, that figure belies the significance of the country’s indigenous movement. More than a quarter of the Colombian national territory belongs to indigenous groups, and 80 percent of the country’s mineral resources are located in native-owned lands. In this innovative ethnography, Joanne Rappaport draws on research she has conducted in Colombia over the past decade—and particularly on her collaborations with activists—to explore the country’s multifaceted indigenous movement, which, after almost 35 years, continues to press for rights to live as indigenous people in a pluralistic society that recognizes them as citizens. Focusing on the intellectuals involved in the movement, Rappaport traces the development of a distinctly indigenous modernity in Latin America—one that defies common stereotypes of separatism or a romantic return to the past. As she reveals, this emerging form of modernity is characterized by interethnic communication and the reframing of selectively appropriated Western research methodologies within indigenous philosophical frameworks. Intercultural Utopias centers on southwestern Colombia’s Cauca region, a culturally and linguistically heterogeneous area well known for its history of indigenous mobilization and its pluralist approach to ethnic politics. Rappaport interweaves the stories of individuals with an analysis of the history of the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca and other indigenous organizations.
