Este libro nos habla de la idea errónea que tenemos del Libro de Jonas, “no es una caricatura”, aclara Weinreb, nos muestra la verdadera interpretación que deberiamos conocer de dicho libro. 487 Páginas. Generalmente -y lamentablemente- hoy en día no se ve en Jonás más que a "una figura cómica" que es tragada por un pez, y que después de salvar milagrosamente su vida, en un gran enojo contra Dios -con gran ímpetu- quiere ver a Nínive destruida. Pero la Tradición judía muestra al respecto que esta manera de ver a Jonás es totalmente incorrecta. Jonás es la historia del hombre como tal -ante todo en la historia de su vida- en relación con Dios. En el relato de Jonás podemos distinguir las siguientes fases: La huida del profeta, su "muerte", su ingreso en el mundo inferior acuático, el viaje en el pez durante tres días y tres noches, el proceso interior de rendición de cuentas, la catarsis, el renacimiento y finalmente la anunciación de su misión en Nínive (la "ciudad del pez" y la conversación con Dios de manera similar a la de Job. Sin duda alguna, estas indicaciones puntuales sobre el drama de Jonás guardan un estrecho paralelo con el acontecer del hombre durante su vida en este mundo y de la función que él debe cumplir aquí. El Prof. Friedrich Weinreb -basándose en las fuentes de la milenaria Tradición Judía transmitida a través de siglos y siglos- en este estudio sobre el libro de Jonás nos revela aquel paralelismo de una manera práctica y concreta para que uno extraiga para sí la luz que lo guía en el camino de la vida. Pero eso ya es tarea individual de cada uno de nosotros.
