En el presente libro, el autor expone el problema del "malestar en la cultura" diagnosticado por Freud, a partir de la exposicion de los postulados basicos de su teoria antropologica, para cuestionar esta posicion que, irremediablemente, situa al ser humano en el terreno de la desesperanza y el desaliento. Para ello, recurre a las propuestas de filosofos como Erich Fromm y Herbert Marcuse, de las que desprende una alternativa esperanzadora de vivir el "bienestar en la cultura."
