How and why do language and thought arise in the human being? This is, perhaps, one of the questions raised in both anthropology and biology, theology and philosophy. Through a rigorous and eclectic approach, this book addresses not only some of the latest publications on the development of language, but also the symbolism of words, their etymology, their relationship with imagination, memory and, ultimately, with the conception that human beings make of their world and of themselves. The first part reviews the different scientific studies on the relationship between thought and language, as well as some of the archaeological finds that show the process of humanization thanks to the imaginative function and the ability to elaborate concepts. In the second part, the symbolic part of words, essential for the development of thought, is addressed. Finally, the third part breaks down, through etymology and symbolism, the origin of some words, as well as the complexity of the concepts they contain.

Ensayos de filosofía, lingüística y economía es parte vital e importante del proyecto de investigación que se desarrolla en la Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad Distrital Fran-cisco José de Caldas, en el área de Linguística Computacional, respecto al análisis de los len-guajes naturales que se consideran en los actos de habla y las maneras de ver y juzgar a través del lenguaje determinadas ideas u objetos contenidos en los modos de hablar y escribir. La obra comprende los siguientes aspectos de importancia: 1) en filosofía del lenguaje se muestra la diferencia entre lenguajes formales y naturales, y se acomete la pregunta acerca del pensar de una máquina, considerando la posibilidad de estructurar maquinas biológicas con capacidad de entenderse con el hombre, pero con autonomía evolutiva independiente a este; 2) en lingüística, se destaca la importancia de la interpretación textual alrededor de la ontología semántica y la gramática del lenguaje desde una perspectiva lógica, y 3) la sección de economía conlleva dos enfoques: los propios de la economía matemática y las principales fuentes de las premisas o fundamentos que sustentan la economía moderna y contempo-ránea, y la que pertenece a economía política está enfocada a la lingüística y a los sistemas ideológicos, porque a partir de la dimensión y apertura del discurso lingüístico y político se pueden indagar las vivencias y los juicios de valor que se construyen a partir de las diferentes ideas propias de las capas sociales e intelectuales. Las sucesivas historias de las ideas recrean cosmovisiones de mundos imaginarios o reales; de esto surge la posibilidad de una teoría de los actos racionales e irracionales de la acción y los hechos humanos. En síntesis, la reflexión del hombre conlleva una exploración sistemática de los diversos tipos de discursos. Solo así es posible caer sobre las preguntas: ¿cuándo hablas o escribes de qué hablas? o ¿cuándo hablas o escribes que es lo que dices o quieres decir?
