El Plan Bolonia se ha presentado a la sociedad como la construcción de un Espacio Europeo para la Universidad, en el que las carreras estarán homologadas y la movilidad será sencilla y natural. Es obvio que estos objetivos no tienen nada de malo. ¿Por qué, entonces, han sido tan dura y tozudamente contestados por el movimiento estudiantil? Según los autores de esta obra, el motivo hay que buscarlo en lo que se esconde tras tantas buenas intenciones: una reconversión empresarial de la Universidad pública y una mercantilización de la enseñanza. Este diagnóstico ha sido tachado de alarmista y exagerado, pero aparece en todos y cada uno de los documentos oficiales que están en la base del proceso de Bolonia. No hay más que leerlos para comprobar cuáles son los planes de la patronal europea respecto a la Educación Superior. Así, afirman los autores, el mismo modelo neoliberal que generó un mercado laboral basura nos va a traer ahora una Universidad basura y señalan que no deja de sorprender el empecinamiento de las autoridades académicas en aplicar a la Universidad un modelo que ha llevado a la economía y la sociedad mundiales a un abismo de insondables consecuencias.
