Caballero armó con esta información una base de datos, revisó las ediciones dominicales de dos periódicos nacionales de estos cuarenta años, usó censos de población, los registros administrativos de la Registraduría Nacional y realizó entrevistas a quince personajes de la industria de las encuestas y los procesos electorales colombianos todo con el fin de responder una pregunta: ¿las encuestas inciden de manera efectiva en la decisión de los votantes? El resultado está en las páginas de esta obra que repasa la historia de esta herramienta y revela aspectos desconocidos para la mayoría de este fascinante universo.

In this classic introductory public choice text, Gordon Tullock analyses the motives and activities of politicians, civil servants and voters. This book offers a framework for the analysis of political communication in election campaigns based on digital trace data that documents political behavior, interests and opinions. Various factors mediate the image of political reality emerging from digital trace data, such as the users of digital services’ political interests, attitudes or attention to politics. The author presents this interpretative framework in a detailed analysis of Twitter messages referring to politics in the context of the 2009 federal elections in Germany.
