An Anthology Of Nineteenth Century Women S Poetry From Spain written by Anna-Marie Aldaz and has been published by MLA Texts and Translations this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009 with Literary Criticism categories.

The woman poet...must sing, just as birds fly and rivers flow," wrote Carolina Coronado in 1846. In Spain of that time, a group of women had begun to publish poetry. Their verseRomantic, predominantly lyric, and often linked to liberal reformwas novel and controversial, because few women had ventured into print. The poets collected in this anthology asserted in different ways their imagination and literary voice. Susan Kirkpatrick provides an overview of the period, and Anna-Marie Aldaz adds a discussion of Spanish versification as well as biographical sketches of the twenty-one poets whose works bring alive the first decades of women's emergence as a force in the Spanish literary world.

The Theory Of Need In Marx written by Agnes Heller and has been published by Verso Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-04-17 with Philosophy categories.

The basic discoveries underlying Marx's critique of political economy - labour power, surplus value, use value - are all in some way built upon the concept of need. From Marx's varying and passing interpretations of a theory of need, Agnes Heller unravels the main tendencies and demonstrates the importance which Marx attached to the "restructuring" of a system of needs going beyond the purely material. She also brings out those aspects, especially the idea of "radical needs" which point to revolutionary activity and to the project which Marx could only foresee but which for us today is of real urgency: the "society of associated producers". Thus Agnes Heller's study is not only the first full presentation of a fundamental aspect of Marx, but the basis for a discussion of the utmost contemporary relevance.

Anthropology And Nursing written by Pat Holden and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-07-03 with Social Science categories.

Nursing has been described as the most ‘natural’ female occupation of all, embodying the so-called feminine ideals of tenderness and caring. Yet these ideals are juxtaposed with images of nurses as sex objects, or as ruthlessly efficient harridans. How have these very different images been constructed? And how do they relate to the reality of nursing - the close contact with blood, urine and faeces, and the involvement with the rites of birth, illness and death? This book, first published in 1991, explores the alternative ways different societies have developed to reconcile these contradictions. Using contemporary, historical and cross-cultural case material, the contributors trace the historical development of the role, and investigate the expected qualities of nurses within different cultural settings, such as India, Uganda and Japan. They look closely at ‘the nurse’ as a social construct, and demonstrate how the stereotypes relate to a particular society's notions of gender. Designed primarily for anthropologists and sociologists interested in health, illness and systems of health care, this book challenges some of the myths of traditional nursing studies and provides an original perspective on doctor/nurse/patient relationships.
