El padre recurre a un relato para ayudar a entender un hecho tan doloroso como natural. Los cuentos se han utilizado desde la antigüedad como portadores de conocimientos e instrumentos de compresión. El método de enseñanza a través del relato es muy efectivo, tal y como demuestra su alta difusión y el empleo de esta técnica narrativa por muchas tradiciones espirituales. El uso del cuento con este fin didáctico y transmisor de verdades universales sería el equivalente a las parábolas en el evangelio, técnica que también se utiliza en el Talmud, el Baghavad Gita, las Gatas de Zoastro o el Corán. En su primera colaboración con OQO, las italianas Silvia Santirosi y Chiara Carrer han sabido introducir, tanto en el texto como en las imágenes, la adecuada dosis de tacto y delicadeza que a un tema de este calibre se le exige. Así, ni la ilustradora recrea escenas propicias al drama ni la autora recurre a mentiras piadosas con las que endulzar la pérdida: cada noche te diriges a la ventana a mirar tu estrella, aquella que descubriste en el cielo. No le resta oscuridad a tu noche pero siempre estará ahí. El relato incide en que los niños, al igual que los adultos, necesitan tiempo para asimilar una pérdida que sienten profundamente: El tren está ahí, sin moverse, papá. Se escucha el silbato del jefe de estación y las puertas se cierran. Me dejan fuera, sola. No he podido subir al tren. Había como un muro invisible que me impedía moverme. Agito mi billete en el aire. Me pongo a gritar que tengo que subir como sea, aunque sé que es demasiado tarde. El tren se va. Noche tras noche, no hago más que ver como desparece tras una curva. En su ópera prima, Silvia Santirosi juega con la carga simbólica de los sueños y del tren para abordar el temor que supone hacer frente a una nueva etapa vital y más cuando está forzada por una pérdida tan fuerte como la que vive la protagonista. El tren en los sueños es la imagen de la vida colectiva, social ... Indica un proceso psíquico, una toma de conciencia que arrastra a una nueva vida. Soñar con perder el tren va acompañado de sentimientos de impotencia (para continuar la vida) e inseguridad. La evolución puede retrasarse por frustración, fracaso ... La estación es el punto de partida; un símbolo inconsciente. Hay que tomar una nueva dirección, se está en un centro de circulación pero ... ¿Cuál es el camino correcto? Coger el tren (en sueños) indicaría superar una etapa. La dificultad para subir es la de integrarse en la vida social que puede deberse, entre otras causas, al aislamiento o introversión. Para dar vida a este precoz aprendizaje, Chiara Carrer apuesta por dibujos sencillos con una fuerte carga conceptual con los que pretende transmitir el miedo, las dudas, incertidumbre inherentes a las "dificultades de vivir" ... Temas por los que se ha decantado en sus últimos trabajos porque le dan la posibilidad de explorar "el interior humano" en un mundo "con prisas que empuja hacia delante y sin tiempo de reflexionar", un espacio que este álbum exige y propicia.
