The Elite Quality Index 2025: The Sustainable Value Creation of Nations (EQx2025), the leading global political economy index, is a comparative ranking measuring the sustainability of nations that assesses whether elites create value and expand a nation’s knowledge capabilities or use their power to rent seek and maximize their own profits by transferring value from their stakeholders. The EQx2025 uses 149 indicators to analyze 151 countries and measures conceptual elements such as Power, Creative Destruction, and Unearned Income to determine whether the elites of a given country create or extract value from their nation. Elites are defined as those that lead a society’s most important business models and range from technology giants to labor unions, with members including business, political, and knowledge elites. Their collective coordination capacity helps them to leverage their power and influence over institutions. A nation’s elite system and its most powerful business models are essential for value creation and economic and human development. The report describes high-quality elites as those that can increase or grow the overall size of the economic pie, while low-quality elites use their power advantages to grow their own slice at the cost of others.

The German Federal Commissioner written by Daniel Jochum and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-07-28 with Political Science categories.

Scholars have described the delegation of power from politics to administration with the help of the principal-agent theory. This framework examines challenges in the constellation of a superior, i.e. principal, and their subordinate, i.e. agent. Recruitment is a major way in which political power can be delegated to the administration. However, it is unclear how constellations in which the agent is a hybrid between politics and administration are to be assessed. Germany is familiar with the hybrid institution of the German Federal Commissioner (GFC), uniting elements of both politics and administration. GFCs or ‘Bundesbeauftragte’ are formally not part of ministerial hierarchy, nor of the cabinet. Also, their constitutional position is blurred because many of them hold simultaneous posts within in the legislative. For this hybrid institution, the delegation mechanisms are unclear, especially in recruitment. This contradicts the fact that GFCs are of high public interest; in its first official act, the new German Merz government abolished half of all GFCs. The present study attempts to get to the bottom GFC recruitment by applying them to the principal-agent framework.

This Research Topic is the second volume of the Research Topic "New Methodological, Intervention and Neuroscientific Perspectives in Sports Psychology". Please see the first volume here. Within the discipline of sport psychology, considerable work involves the development, implementation, and evaluation of interventions to improve the world of sport. The importance of theory as a basis for such intervention efforts has been strongly emphasized. In recent years, research has shown that there are three factors on which to base future developments: methodological innovations (e.g. Mixed Methods), new intervention approaches (e.g. Empowering/Disempowering Climates) and advances in neuroscience (e.g. inhibitory circuits). Regarding methodological innovations, the importance of mixed methods in this field is highlighted by their profound significance. Indeed, procedural innovations with direct and indirect observational data has allowed the observational methodology to be considered as a mixed method in itself. This approach has been implemented in recent years in many publications relating to various sports. Other methodological advances involve the evolution of structural equation analysis. For example, the increasing use of invariance analysis, mediation analysis, PLS software (which allows non-normal samples), multilevel analysis, generalizability analysis, and the graphical evolution of data with programs such as Neo4j.

Strategic Human Capital Development In Asia written by Richard R. Smith and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-06-23 with Business & Economics categories.

Asia continues to ascend as an economic powerhouse and a strategic priority for business leaders around the world, yet there is often limited understanding of the human capital systems that fuel the economic engines of the region. This book brings together the perspectives from economics, sociology, and management to highlight the business implications of human capital development in Asia. This book provides new insights on human capital systems in Asia by considering the country context through a 'Human Capital Ecosystem' framework. Applying this framework, constituent outline, and comparable points across each of the countries in Asia, Smith translates national policies into insights on the drivers, challenges, and opportunities in individual countries. Each chapter also draws out clear business and HR implications based on the above framework and analysis. While Asia continues to be a critical priority for businesses, there is limited understanding on how to manage and navigate the human capital systems in each of the region’s diverse countries. This book will serve as a helpful reference for managers or supplemental study guide for graduate students working to understand how to execute business strategy in major economies of Asia.

Attention And Alienation written by Aarushi Bhandari and has been published by Columbia University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-07-22 with Political Science categories.

The worldwide spread of the internet has revolutionized communication at a harrowing cost: the relentless commodification of attention. Algorithm-driven capitalism extracts profit from not only physical bodies but also the emotional and creative labor of internet users. This economic system alienates us from our inmost selves and gives us only a gnawing longing that cannot be satiated—a spiraling collective mental health crisis. The exchange is deeply unequal: we pay attention and receive alienation. Aarushi Bhandari offers a new way to understand the political economy of attention, combining quantitative analysis and personal narrative to critique the role of information and communications technologies in global society. Ranging across levels, from international development policy to online social movements through individual internet users, she examines how these technologies have fostered a host of unequal exchanges. Pervasive inequalities—between richer and poorer countries, between progressive social movements and the reactions against them, and between technological elites and the online population—now reinforce one another, with far-reaching consequences. Along the way, Bhandari shares her own journey as a chronically online millennial woman growing up among the Kathmandu elite in a dominant-caste Hindu family during the Nepali Civil War. A bold and incisive critical analysis, Attention and Alienation also considers how to reclaim the potential of the internet and design new systems that prioritize collective well-being.

This book systematically examines regional-level qualities of democracy – representation, participation, and competition – in four countries of Central and Eastern Europe between 1994 and 2022, from the establishment of regional self-government to the present day. Focusing on their common EU accession as representing a critical juncture in their processes of consolidation and/or destabilization of liberal democratic patterns of government on both national and subnational levels, the book applies a conceptual framework on the quality of subnational democracy. It provides a clear methodological approach to observing quality and the variability in quality of democracy across various regions and its transformation through long-term comparisons. As such, the book contributes to understanding some of the processes of more than 30 years of Central and Eastern European regional politics, offering conceptual clarifications applicable to research conducted in other contexts. This book is of key interest to scholars and students of democracy, electoral politics, Central and East European politics, local politics, representation, and more broadly, comparative politics.
