Symmetrization And Stabilization Of Solutions Of Nonlinear Elliptic Equations written by Messoud Efendiev and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-17 with Mathematics categories.
This book deals with a systematic study of a dynamical system approach to investigate the symmetrization and stabilization properties of nonnegative solutions of nonlinear elliptic problems in asymptotically symmetric unbounded domains. The usage of infinite dimensional dynamical systems methods for elliptic problems in unbounded domains as well as finite dimensional reduction of their dynamics requires new ideas and tools. To this end, both a trajectory dynamical systems approach and new Liouville type results for the solutions of some class of elliptic equations are used. The work also uses symmetry and monotonicity results for nonnegative solutions in order to characterize an asymptotic profile of solutions and compares a pure elliptic partial differential equations approach and a dynamical systems approach. The new results obtained will be particularly useful for mathematical biologists.

The conference Challenges In Scientific Computing (CISC 2002) took place from October, 2 to 5, 2002. The hosting institution was the Weierstrass Insti tute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) in Berlin, Germany. The main purpose of this meeting was to draw together researchers working in the fields of numerical analysis and scientific computing with a common interest in the numerical treatment and the computational solution of systems of nonlinear partial differential equations arising from applications of physical and engineering problems. The main focus of the conference was on the problem class of non linear transport/diffusion/reaction systems, chief amongst these being: the Navier-Stokes equations, semiconductor-device equations and porous media flow problems. The emphasis was on unsolved problems, challenging open questions from applications and assessing the various numerical methods used to handle them, rather than concentrate on accurate results from "solved" problems. Thanks to the participants it was an interesting meeting. The presentations stimulated exchanging ideas and lively discussions. This proceedings comprises 13 papers form the conference, ranging from numerical methods for flow problems, multigrid methods, semiconductor and microwave simulation, solution methods, finite element analysis to software aspects. This interesting conference would not have been possible without the help of the staff of the WIAS. I thank all participants, and all our supporters, especially those not onstage, for making the conference a success.

Scientific computing is a fast growing and fast changing area whose applications to various branches of science, engineering, medicine, economics (and others) are increasing in number and relevance every day. There are two main reasons (among others) that make scientific computing change so rapidly. One is the increasing number of different research areas beginning to make use of numerical simulation: from nanotechnology to genomics, from computer aided diagnosis and operations in medical applications (which involve often com plete simulations of parts of the human body) to economics and finance. Each new application, and each new aspect of earlier applications, draws heavily on the know how that has been acquired on other problems with similar mathematical features. It has to be pointed out that the lofty perspective of mathematics succeeds quite often in finding connections among very different phenomena, that tum out in the end to share the same mathematical and numerical structure. In tum, new applica tions contribute to the cross-fertilization by "sending back" new interpretations and suggestions which are often useful in more classical applications. All this creates a resonance effect that contributes greatly to the growth rate of the whole field.

Zgurovsky and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-05-22 with Mathematics categories.
In this sequel to two earlier volumes, the authors now focus on the long-time behavior of evolution inclusions, based on the theory of extremal solutions to differential-operator problems. This approach is used to solve problems in climate research, geophysics, aerohydrodynamics, chemical kinetics or fluid dynamics. As in the previous volumes, the authors present a toolbox of mathematical equations. The book is based on seminars and lecture courses on multi-valued and non-linear analysis and their geophysical application.

For mathematicians and engineers interested in applying numerical methods to physical problems this book is ideal. Numerical ideas are connected to accompanying software, which is also available online. By seeing the complete description of the methods in both theory and implementation, students will more easily gain the knowledge needed to write their own application programs or develop new theory. The book contains careful development of the mathematical tools needed for analysis of the numerical methods, including elliptic regularity theory and approximation theory. Variational crimes, due to quadrature, coordinate mappings, domain approximation and boundary conditions, are analyzed. The claims are stated with full statement of the assumptions and conclusions, and use subscripted constants which can be traced back to the origination (particularly in the electronic version, which can be found on the accompanying CD-ROM).

Quantitative Approaches To Microcirculation written by Andreas Linninger and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-11 with Mathematics categories.
Microcirculation is a key area of interest within the realms of biology and medicine. As a vital discipline, microcirculatory biology forms a significant part of established medical fields like cardiovascular medicine and oncology, and is increasingly relevant in emerging fields such as neuroscience. With its multifaceted nature, the study of microcirculation has evolved from basic observations and experiments to embrace cutting-edge imaging technologies, quantitative methods, and the power of data science. This volume brings together a series of insightful chapters that highlight the latest trends in modeling microcirculation. It casts a spotlight on the vital role of microcirculation in brain function modeling and the innovative applications of microvascular models in oncology. Readers will be introduced to state-of-the-art methodologies of microcirculation modeling. A key focus is on mixed-dimensional models, mathematical methods adept at describing complex interactions within lower dimensional manifolds. Each chapter thoughtfully navigates the mathematical, computational, and practical challenges of these approaches, underscoring their effectiveness in capturing the essence of microcirculation. This book offers a window into the latest advancements and methodologies that are shaping the future of this vital field.
