Se trata de una crónica rigurosa y detallada de la lucha de los estudiantes catalanes contra la dictadura y la universidad instauradas el 1939. En este largo período, en la Universidad de Barcelona, que históricamente siempre ha sido un fiel reflejo de las sacudidas de Cataluña frente al centralismo y la reacción, han coincidido el autoritarismo y la miseria intelectual propias del régimen político imperante, y la crisis de la inadaptación de la vieja institución a las nuevas necesidades de una sociedad moderna. Esto ha dado como resultado un movimiento estudiantil que ha luchado constantemente con la represión, en muchos momentos ha estado en la vanguardia cultural y política del país y ha actuado con conciencia crítica de una situación más general. Este trabajo quiere ser una contribución a la tarea de recuperación de nuestra memoria colectiva y es también un reclamo por la reforma en materia de Universidad. Se estructura esta obra en dos volúmenes y cinco capítulos, encabezados cada uno de ellos con los siguientes epígrafes: 1o) la Universidad Católica e Imperial; 2o) el sindicato español universitario; 3o) años de resistencia; 4o) las bases de un nuevo movimiento; 5o) contra el SEU, por el Sindicato Democrático de Estudiantes.
