When did the word "conspiracy" get all mixed up with the word "theory?" As any conspiracy theorist can tell you, it was the Warren Commission's attempt to keep the official JFK assassination narrative untarnished in case anyone else had other ideas. If a person dared question it they were immediately labeled a nut. And it worked. If anyone dared mention conspiracy, people laughed. People ridiculed. People dismissed.Today of course, there's no such thing as conspiracies. We've evolved into such a noble and entitled entity, that there's no longer the need for control and manipulation. The idea that an unseen group of powerful elite could finagle our enlightened species into total compliance by deception is laughable--- unless you're some kind of nut.Enter the nut. What can anyone who's lived long enough to see their illusions destroyed possibly have to say? Well, there's something to be said for the history the older generation has witnessed come and go. It just doesn't seem fair that much of it is methodically being erased. I thought there should be a record of it, just in case those who write history decide to unleash the same old narrative again on an unsuspecting populace. Idealism is what we have until we get old enough to know better. It's much harder believing in a future brimming with hope than it was when I was younger. Still, I wanted to try and find a balance between what is, and what could have been. If there is some small group of powerful men who decide on a whim to re-write the history they've created, then so far at least---there are those of us still left to rebel against it.

This book is also available under its original title "Thank God For Atheists." Apparently, you CAN judge a book by its cover, so I'm offering this version as well... Everyone's addicted to their devices. It's called the dopamine response. We're so interested in what's coming next, we don't stop to appreciate what's already here. Somewhere along the way, everything's gotten watered down and shallow. In our rush for the quick fix, we're losing our ability to think for ourselves. No matter how idealistically, I'll suggest how we might break the dreary chain of causality that's created our willing imprisonment. Despite the media's insistence that we focus on the mundane, I'll explain how we can focus again on those things that ought to matter. Belief is important. Religion is our way of reconciling ourselves to dying, but it shouldn't become so powerful that it prevents us from living. If we notice an ant crawling around on the lip of a drinking glass caught in an unending circle, we're amused at first. Hours later, when the ant continues on its relentless trek around the glass's edge, we start to get mildly annoyed. We're dismayed by how this apparently stupid creature hasn't yet figured out that it's been going around in this little circle. In fact, if we don't intercede in some way, it will likely go on like this for the rest of its life. What most of us fail to take into account, is the fact that one of the ways scout ants blaze new paths, is by laying down a pheromone trail that will aid it in returning to the colony later. If the trip was successful in yielding up new food sources, then that same trail can be followed by other members of the colony at some future point. Since there have been ants, that's a pretty good way to run a business. It's a safe bet that most of the world's ants won't end up on the edge of a glass somewhere, since such items are relatively rare in nature. I wonder what some dispassionate observer would think if they were to look at some of the things we believe. Would they laugh at our plight, or would they be appalled by our short-sightedness? Sometimes it's best to recognize the futility of going around in this big, unending circle. Might it be possible that it's all been designed that way all along?

Emergence is the way complex systems and patterns arise out of a multiplicity of relatively simple interactions. In the framework of emergence, the whole is a mirror of the parts. Existence is fractal - the health of the cell is the health of the species and the planet. Change is constant. This book is about how we can shape the changes we experience to match our intentions using strategic methods that are as adaptive, resilient decentralised, and interdependent as the patterns of flocking birds or differentiating cells. A secular spirituality based equally on science and science fiction.

Representation And Rebellion written by Jonathan H. Rees and has been published by University Press of Colorado this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-02-15 with History categories.

In response to the tragedy of the Ludlow Massacre, John D. Rockefeller Jr. introduced one of the nation’s first employee representation plans (ERPs) to the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company in 1915. With the advice of William Mackenzie King, who would go on to become prime minister of Canada, the plan—which came to be known as the Rockefeller Plan—was in use until 1942 and became the model for ERPs all over the world. In Representation and Rebellion Jonathan Rees uses a variety of primary sources—including records recently discovered at the company’s former headquarters in Pueblo, Colorado—to tell the story of the Rockefeller Plan and those who lived under it, as well as to detail its various successes and failures. Taken as a whole, the history of the Rockefeller Plan is not the story of ceaseless oppression and stifled militancy that its critics might imagine, but it is also not the story of the creation of a paternalist panacea for labor unrest that Rockefeller hoped it would be.Addressing key issues of how this early twentieth-century experiment fared from 1915 to 1942, Rees argues that the Rockefeller Plan was a limited but temporarily effective alternative to independent unionism in the wake of the Ludlow Massacre. The book will appeal to business and labor historians, political scientists, and sociologists, as well as those studying labor and industrial relations.

Teaching Representations Of The French Revolution written by Julia Douthwaite Viglione and has been published by Modern Language Association this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-01 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

In many ways the French Revolution--a series of revolutions, in fact, whose end has arguably not yet arrived--is modernity in action. Beginning in reform, it blossomed into wholesale attempts to remake society, uprooting the clergy and aristocracy, valorizing mass movements, and setting secular ideologies, including nationalism, in motion. Unusually manifold and complicated, the revolution affords many teaching opportunities and challenges. This volume helps instructors seeking to connect developments today--terrorism, propaganda, extremism--with the events that began in 1789, contextualizing for students a world that seems always unmoored and in crisis. The volume supports the teaching of the revolution's ongoing project across geographic areas (from Haiti, Latin America, and New Orleans to Spain, Germany, and Greece), governing ideologies (human rights, secularism, liberty), and literatures (from well-known to newly rediscovered texts). Interdisciplinary, intercultural, and insurgent, the volume has an energy that reflects its subject.
