Pengurusan projek dan kelestarian bermula dengan dua konsep yang berbeza. Pengurusan projek adalah berasaskan teori sementara dan kelestarian pula pada teori berpanjangan. Kedua-dua ini berlawanan dan apakah ini menjejaskan kepentingan kedua-duanya dalam organisasi dan di manakah pula pertemuannya? Atau adakah sebenarnya teori pengurusan projek dengan sendirinya adalah kelestarian kerana konsep kitaran hayat yang wujud walaupun berkonsepkan teori sementara. Mungkin juga asas teori pengurusan projek yang perlu disesuaikan dengan keperluan kelestarian. Beberapa senario dikemukakan untuk menghuraikan persoalan-persoalan yang dikemukakan yang bertujuan menemukan titik pertemuan pengurusan projek dan kelestarian. Empat senario dipilih, iaitu pendidikan untuk pembangunan lestari, pembinaan untuk kelestarian, pengajian tinggi untuk kelestarian, dan pembangunan pelajar untuk kelestarian. Enam titik penemuan sokongan digunakan untuk menilai senario ini melalui perspektif pengurusan projek. Titik pertemuan utama ialah perlunya dikaji dan dihuraikan dengan lebih lanjut pengurusan projek untuk kelestarian (project management for sustainability) yang perlu dipacu oleh titik pertemuan sokongan, iaitu institusi, governan, sumber, bakat dan kepimpinan, luaran, dan metodologi pelaksanaan.
