Over the past decade, significant breakthroughs have been achieved in renewable energy generation, operation, and control technology, greatly enhancing the safe operation and efficient utilization of renewable energy. However, as the penetration ratio of the renewable energy continues to grow, the characteristics of randomness, variability, weak inertia and damping have posed great challenges to the power generation, operation and control. There is an urgent need to provide efficient, safe and diverse technological choices for the construction of the renewable energy-dominated power system: 1) Improving the efficiency of renewable energy generation and transmission; 2) Increasing the capability of renewable energy to support and regulate the system voltage, frequency, and inertia, thus guaranteeing the security and stability operation of power systems; 3) Scaling up development of offshore wind power and distributed renewable energy in remote regions like Gobi Desert requires technological innovation for further development

Power system operation is one of the important issues in the power industry. The book aims to provide readers with the methods and algorithms to save the total cost in electricity generation and transmission. It begins with traditional power systems and builds into the fundamentals of power system operation, economic dispatch (ED), optimal power flow (OPF), and unit commitment (UC). The book covers electricity pricing mechanisms, such as nodal pricing and zonal pricing, based on Security-Constrained ED (SCED) or SCUC. The operation of energy market and ancillary service market are also explored. "It covers a wide range of interesting topics, which could be very useful for understanding the main phenomena ruling power systems economy (such as Optimal Power Flow analysis and unit Commitments). It addresses topics widely treated in the literature, hence it is important to outline its distinctive features compared to other similar books. The book is well structured and well balanced." —Alfredo Vaccaro, University of Sannio, Italy

Modeling Practice And Mechanism Design Of Green Energy Systems Towards Sustainable Development written by Jianli Zhou and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-03-12 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The sustainable development of energy has become a global concern. The energy system, as an extremely important module for production, conversion, transmission, and supply in the energy industry, is facing pressure from deep decarbonization and green transformation. The application of wind power, photovoltaic, hydrogen energy, power-to-gas (P2G) technology, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technology will help the energy system achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Hydrogen energy will become a bridge for various energy conversion, promoting the high-speed flow of green energy. Therefore, modeling practice and mechanism design for green energy systems will become a key area of academic research. The full utilization and consumption of renewable energy generation (e.g., wind and photovoltaic) still face difficulties and challenges, especially the problem of full consumption. The development and layout of multi-energy complementarity, coupling and interaction, and collaborative integrated energy systems can effectively solve the above problems. Therefore, there is an urgent need to study the mechanism, planning and design, optimized operation, development mode, carbon emission reduction, energy policies, and trading mechanisms of integrated energy systems coupled with renewable energy generation and hydrogen energy, to promote its further development and help achieve a clean and sustainable future. This field will integrate the knowledge and methodology from energy science, power electronics, management science and economics.

This book comprehensively and systematically introduces the principles, key technologies and main types of new energy utilization based on the analysis and prospect of global energy development trend and energy transformation law. Starting from the basic law of energy development, this book points out the inevitability of the development of fossil energy to non-fossil new energy, expounds scientifically and prospectively the importance of developing new energy to conform to the law of energy development and to ensure national energy security, introduces in detail various new energy technologies, summarizes the new strategies of traditional energy companies, and expounds respectively current situation and application prospect. The book is divided into four parts. The first one is "Energy Trend" includes the law of energy development, world energy layout and energy development trend. The second part, "New Energy Revolution", includes revolutionary energy technology and energy Internet technology. The third part is "New Strategies of Traditional Energy Companies", which includes the new energy distribution of oil companies and coal-fired power companies. Part IV "New Energy Theories", includes hydrogen energy, energy storage and new materials, geothermal, nuclear energy, wind and tide and other new energy sources.

Renewable Energy Resources is a numerate and quantitative text covering the full range of renewable energy technologies and their implementation worldwide. Energy supplies from renewables (such as from biofuels, solar heat, photovoltaics, wind, hydro, wave, tidal, geothermal, and ocean-thermal) are essential components of every nation’s energy strategy, not least because of concerns for the local and global environment, for energy security and for sustainability. Thus in the years between the first and this third edition, most renewable energy technologies have grown from fledgling impact to significant importance because they make good sense, good policy and good business. This Third Edition is extensively updated in light of these developments, while maintaining the book’s emphasis on fundamentals, complemented by analysis of applications. Renewable energy helps secure national resources, mitigates pollution and climate change, and provides cost effective services. These benefits are analysed and illustrated with case studies and worked examples. The book recognises the importance of cost effectiveness and efficiency of end-use. Each chapter begins with fundamental scientific theory, and then considers applications, environmental impact and socio-economic aspects before concluding with Quick Questions for self-revision and Set Problems. The book includes Reviews of basic theory underlying renewable energy technologies, such as electrical power, fluid dynamics, heat transfer and solid-state physics. Common symbols and cross-referencing apply throughout; essential data are tabulated in appendices. An associated eResource provides supplementary material on particular topics, plus a solutions guide to Set Problems. Renewable Energy Resources supports multi-disciplinary master degrees in science and engineering, and specialist modules in first degrees. Practising scientists and engineers who have not had a comprehensive training in renewable energy will find it a useful introductory text and a reference book.

This is an open access book. The double-carbon target has been one of the main motivations and goals for China's social and economic development. The building sector is one of the most important sectors to achieve energy saving and emission reduction. This publication thoroughly examines China's building energy use and carbon emissions with a focus on four categories, including their characteristics and the technologies needed to achieve zero carbon emissions. This year, the key issue is developing carbon-neutrality pathways for China's urban heating system. This report comprehensively discusses the current status and future forecast of heat demand in buildings and non-process industries, introduces the challenges facing the urban energy supply system in achieving carbon neutrality, and elucidates the low-carbon heating model based mainly on low-grade and low-carbon waste heat. Extensive survey and monitoring data and case studies are presentedthroughout the book. The discussion of technologies and policies has been the subject of extensive research and evidence for over a decade. The information, data, and policy recommendations are of relevance to a national and global audience working in the fields of energy, climate change, engineering, and building science.
