This book explores the meaning and practice of empowering methodologies in organisational and social research. In a context of global academic precarity, this volume explores why empowering research is urgently needed. It discusses the situatedness of knowing and knowledge in the context of core-periphery relations between the global North and South. The book considers the sensory, affective, embodied practice of empowering research, which involves listening, seeing, moving and feeling, to facilitate a more diverse, creative and crafty repertoire of research possibilities. The essays in this volume examine crucial themes including: · How to decolonise management knowledge · Using imaginative, visual and sensory methods · Memory and space in empowering research · Empowerment and feminist methodologies · The role of reflexivity in empowering research By bringing postcolonial perspectives from India, the volume aims to revitalise management and organisation studies for global readers. This book will be useful for scholars and researchers of management studies, organisational behaviour, research methodology, development studies, social sciences in general and gender studies and sociology.

Published works on Saudi women in organizational contexts are overwhelmingly reductionist, producing a singular story and a monolithic "Saudi woman." This book aims to counter the master narrative on Saudi women in leadership by offering an intimate reading of the women’s stories and experiences. The author interviews 14 Saudi women leaders focusing on the women’s stories of leadership identity, workplace "resistance," and alternative forms of knowledge. From a methodological standpoint, the reader is given the opportunity to encounter the women at three different levels of analysis: Master narrative, counter narratives, and my narrative. There is also a theoretical discussion surrounding a variety of feminisms: Postcolonial feminism, Islamic feminism, and Decolonial Feminism. This theoretical engagement will enable readers to understand the difficulty of the theoretical terrain, while also acknowledging the possibility for future theory development. Expanding on previous studies on Saudi women in leadership by taking the discussion away from challenges to the ways in which the women navigate those challenges, this book serves as an emancipatory and inclusive tool in research with practical implications in business. This book will be of value to researchers, academics, and professionals in the fields of leadership, management, gender, and diversity.

Global Rhetorics Of Science written by Lynda C. Olman and has been published by State University of New York Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.

With this volume, the field of rhetoric of science joins its sister disciplines in history and philosophy in challenging the dominance of Euro-American science as a global epistemology. The discipline of rhetoric understands world-making and community-building as interdependent activities: that is, if we practice science differently, we do politics differently, and vice versa. This wider aperture seems crucial at a time when we are confronted with the limitations of Euro-American science and politics in managing global risks such as pandemics and climate change—particularly in our most vulnerable communities. The contributors to this volume draw on their familiarity with a wide range of global scientific traditions—from Australian Aboriginal ecology to West African medicine to Polynesian navigation science—to suggest possibilities for reconfiguring the relationship between science and politics to better manage global risks. These possibilities should not only inspire scholars in rhetoric and technical communication but should also introduce readers from science and technology studies to some useful new approaches to the problem of decolonizing scenes of scientific practice around the world.
